Thumbnail image for IdahoFallsToday.com Brings Back The Largest List Of LINKS in Southeast Idaho! by Joe Eagle November 18, 2009

It’s back! Over the years we have collected the largest list of links for Idaho Falls and the surrounding area. Some time ago, that list was lost, but after some work, and a few boxes of twinkies, it’s back online with some new features:

List by Category – Previously links were listed out on an entire [...]

KIFI And KIDK Handily Beat Out The Post Register In Online News

by Joe Eagle September 3, 2008

The world is turning more and more to the internet for delivery of news media – and Radio, newspapers, and print media are feeling the crunch. So much so that many of them have started to deliver their content online via the internet.
We have several local news providers in the area who compete [...]

Idaho State Fair

by Joe Eagle August 31, 2008

It’s time again for the Eastern Idaho State Fair! The food, rides, displays, venders, carnival games, petting zoo, 4H, the list of to see’s and to do’s are almost endless. Depending on your age group and interests, you may be interested in different events, but I thought someone out there might be interested in a [...]

McCain’s Pick: This could be the one…

by Open Mind August 29, 2008

So, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin is emerging as the possible VEEP candidate for McCain. While I’m a Romney supporter, I like the Dark Horse approach.  She’s young, attractive, smart, and — perhaps very importantly in this campaign — a woman. Looking over her record, I think she’s a candidate that conservatives could get behind, courting [...]

Local News Station KPVI Stole My Work

by Joe Vandal April 2, 2008

This morning I discovered that our local NBC news affiliate KPVI published a news story on their website, and the graphic they used was stolen from my website, the IdahoFallz.com blog. You can see clearly from the attached images that they used my “IFPD” picture taken of an IFPD truck, originally published on IdahoFallz.com as [...]

Celebrating Two Years Online in Idaho Falls

by Joe Vandal October 18, 2007

It has been two years today that IdahoFallz.com has been active online.
It has been a wild ride, and mostly enjoyable. Despite some folks’ misgivings about anonymous online chat, I think the majority of discussions have been honest without going too far overboard. It turned out that many people value a forum where they can [...]

Open for User Access Again

by Joe Vandal September 11, 2007

My long online nightmare is over, IdahoFallz.com users can once again access the backend system for writing article drafts and modifying their profile information.
A security hole was identified many months ago that forced me to demote all users to where they could not even create article drafts. It involved a core problem with the [...]

SiteMeter-SpecificClick Cookie Discovery Prompts Cancellations and Cleanups

by Joe Vandal August 2, 2007

While creating another unrelated website, I considered if I wanted to use the SiteMeter service for tracking visits and visitor statistics. I had not considered the question for a long time, and so I Googled “sitemeter sucks”, a strategy I use to find criticism of a product or service.
Apparently SiteMeter is now serving third-party [...]

Do you think IdahoFallz.com is Liberal or Centered, and Why?

by Joe Vandal April 24, 2007

I hear lots of complaints. Daily. I usually figure hearing equal complaints from both sides of these aisles while the monthly visitor counts keep rising must mean all is generally going well regardless of the criticisms. I try to keep a long term perspective here.

Being that IdahoFallz.com garners a large number of out-of-area visitors looking [...]

Per numerous informal discussions and a recent discussion thread, IdahoFallz.com is rolling out and enforcing new comment guidelines:

Proposed Comment Policy Changes

by Joe Vandal February 16, 2007

I must give credit to IdahoBusiness.net for the inspiration to redo the IdahoFallz.com comment policy.
It is unfortunate that lately some comments posted here have gone beyond spirited debate into raucous territory. Healthy debate is awesome, but comments that are unpleasantly loud and harsh just disturb the public peace. I have heard from too many people [...]

Look Ma, No Local Advertisements!

by Joe Vandal December 6, 2006

Some may have noticed I quietly removed advertising solicitations a few weeks ago. IdahoFallz.com will no longer solicit or accept local advertising.

I am a designer, programmer, writer, many things, but definitely not a salesman or telemarketer. It is ironic that nobody wants to receive a hard sales pitch, but it takes a hard sales [...]
