The questionable and irresponsible spending habits of the Idaho Falls City Council.

The local political chatter around here and town sure seems quite. Aside from a few campaign signs here and there for the various city council races, you wouldn’t guess that an election is just around the corner.
In exactly two weeks, we have the opportunity to vote for who will represent our interests and values at [...]

Addicted to Abortion

Thumbnail image for Addicted to Abortion by Neal Larson October 16, 2009

Recently on my radio show I discussed a woman, Irene Vilar, who has had fifteen abortions over seventeen years.
Every pregnancy, it appears, was to rebel against her much older husband who did not want children. She would deliberately “forget” to take the pill. Vilar actually had two children who survived her so-called addiction and made [...]

KUPI 99 Needs to Grow Up – Idaho Falls Radio

Thumbnail image for KUPI 99 Needs to Grow Up – Idaho Falls Radio by JP October 6, 2009

Twice in the last few days I’ve heard a radio advertisement on KUPI 99 that goes something like this:
We’re KUPI 99. What makes us better than the other guys?
That’s easy. We’re not d—–bags.
Except without the dashes.
I understand radio stations have their little tiffs with one another. Currently, 1055 the Hawk chides “the other guys” for [...]

Mental Illness, How Does It Impact You?

by Wendyjo September 27, 2009

Divided They Stand
“Crazy” is a word most of us use to describe many things and people: The weather is crazy, hot one minute and cold the next.  The government is CRAZY!  My neighbors are crazy.  I swear, my kid is crazy.
We use the word “crazy” as an euphemism or indirect substitution for one that is [...]

County Treasurer-Fact vs Fiction

by mahansen September 22, 2009

Whoever posted the article titled Illinois Politics in Idaho Falls needs to check their facts before publishing “information”.
First, My wife does not work with anyone facing tax deed; Bonneville County seldom tax deeds property.  The last time properties were deeded was in 2007. Details regarding their disposition can be obtained in the County Commissioners Office. There [...]

Illinois Politics in Idaho Falls

by tru49er September 21, 2009

Illinois politics in Idaho Falls?  You bet!!!  Just like governor Rod Blagojevich’s wife Patti Blagojevich,  Bonneville County treasurer Mark Hansen’s wife Dana is in local real estate and just like Patti she uses her husbands position as county treasurer to make real estate deals.
The Hansen’s contact owners who are in danger of going into tax [...]

What really goes on in school..

by ferg August 20, 2009

I was wondering why is it that at some schools, that the staff”s family is allowed to “hang out” in the office, I don’t know if anyone else has noticed this going on.  I thought that the schools had a “no loitering” policy on the school grounds, or is that only for non staff family [...]

Healthcare is Not a Right

Ironically, when government violates our God-given rights in an attempt to provide entitlements, it becomes the very criminal it was created to destroy.

Tuesday night Concert on the Greenbelt

Thanks to the Henry Fork Pipes and drum for the great concert. However I thought it was insulting to the sponsors when they passed around the drum for donations. What are your thoughts?

Why does the media persist in honoring Michael Jackson?

by The Gadsden July 13, 2009

I do not know about you, but I am absolutely tired and concerned about the media’s coverage and love affair with Michael Jackson. We are nearing the month anniversary of Jackson’s death and the media has refused to let him die. Is there not anything better to cover? Is there not actual news happening elsewhere [...]

Reserving spaces for the 4th of July

by The Gadsden July 1, 2009

On the way to work yesterday, I heard an interesting debate on the radio. The debate was over whether people should be allowed to save or reserve spaces along the green belt in preparation for the Melaleuca Freedom Celebration this Saturday.
We’ve all seen it, whether it is for a parade or the fireworks display, [...]

Idaho Falls Gas Stations Are Price Gouging!!!

by newru June 30, 2009

Okay, go to Gasbuddy.com or drive from Idaho Falls to Pocatello and you will see that Idaho Falls average Gas prices are $2.59 but in Pocatello they are $2.49. Why are two towns that are affected by the same weather, economy etc… that have a $.10 price difference. I think Idaho Falls is price gouging. This needs [...]

Why should we buy auto insurance?

by Alice June 29, 2009

A week and a half ago, my boyfriend was riding his motorcycle down 17th street when an uninsured driver pulled in front of him and caused an accident. Luckily, my boyfriend only suffered a laceration over his eyebrow (requiring several stitches) and damage to his motorcycle. The driver of the car told the officer that [...]

I was glad to see mention of this weekend’s Memorial Day Rally and Tea Party activity posted on the poll. Unfortunately, after reading the live chat portion of the blog, I realized many of the readers unaware of the details for the rally.
That being said, the Memorial Day rally is a great way to [...]

Where’s the justice? Are our judges too soft on crime? Is the judicial system broken?

IDAHO FALLS – A local woman, Brooke Armstrong, 34, was sentenced this week to four months in jail and eight years probation for stealing more than $150,000 from three area businesses.

Is Idaho ready for legal marijuana?

by slu2 May 18, 2009

On May 13th in the “Boise Weekly” there was an article ran about the 300 person crowd at the state capitol for the “Global Marijuana March”.
Ref:  http://www.boiseweekly.com/gyrobase/Content?oid=oid%3A323768
I have been saying this for a long time, I believe that Idaho will be the 14th state for legalizing marijuana in one way or another.  However, it looks [...]

Infant potty training, myth or reality?

by slu2 April 27, 2009

My wife and I started this 5 years ago with our first child.  Before our baby was born, my wife hand sewed a dozen or so cloth diapers, and we bought some pre-fold cloth diapers from Walmart as well as some diaper pins.
My wife had read about infant potty training, and the reason why we [...]

Obama’s European “Blame America” Tour

by hallistone April 14, 2009

The following was written by Richard Larsen, and published in the Idaho State Journal (Pocatello newspaper).

There is a common malady that afflicts many of our American comrades, known as the Bush Derangement Syndrome (BDS), where everything wrong with the world is blamed on our former president. A corollary to that is BAS, or the “Blame [...]
