Idaho Education Problems Point Directly to Solutions

by Tar n Feather Em May 8, 2006

The Post Register reported well on Idaho’s third-rate educational system. They were too polite, however, in just presenting the evidence and pointing to where Idaho is headed. I will be more blunt and painfully honest. Nicety political talk has gotten us to a dire state, so blunt words and an unambiguous messages is required here.

Idaho [...]

Death Penalty Fast Track Proposed

by Tar n Feather Em April 18, 2006

Death penalty punishments should be expedited in clear cases involving irrefutable evidence like DNA or videotaped evidence of the crime. The death penalty should be fast-tracked to be executed (pun intended) not later than one calendar year from the date of sentencing.

There are many reasons to support this change. Our constitution forbids cruel and unusual [...]

Legislators should be accountable for lawsuit fallouts

by Tar n Feather Em April 4, 2006

KIDK reported a federal judge ordered our wonderful state of Idaho to pay $380,000 to cover Planned Parenthood’s costs fighting yet another failed Idaho law regarding abortion. This amount, in addition to what Idaho already spent just defending the failed law, means we taxpayers have spent nearly $750,000 on the latest attempted abortion restrictions.

It is [...]

New McDonald’s to be built on Keefer Island

by Tar n Feather Em April 1, 2006

McDonald’s corporation and the Idaho Falls city council today announced the area’s fifth chain restaurant will be constructed on Keefer Island in the Snake River. The Idaho Falls city council was happy to finally do something productive with the island, after years of weed-focus landscaping efforts failed to beautify it.

The new McDonald’s building will have [...]

Kimball Mason deserves prison, but LONG jail time would suffice

by Tar n Feather Em March 24, 2006

Our previously-esteemed city prosecutor, Kimball Mason, has finally admitted he stole items from the Idaho Falls police evidence room for his own personal gain. He also admitted he forged documents sometimes to get those items. An investigation has found he committed these crimes numerous times, he admits he did it numerous times, and yet he [...]

Do us proud, Dirk Kempthorne

by Tar n Feather Em March 17, 2006

Our Idaho governor Dirk Kempthorne may finally become a bride rather than always a bridesmaid.

President George Bush announced yesterday he would nominate our own governor to replace Gale Norton as the Interior Department Secretary. Simply being nominated does not mean Dirk will get the job, especially since congress is in a fighting mood with our [...]

New Year’s Laws Idaho Should Examine

by Tar n Feather Em January 31, 2006

Here’s some new laws that Idaho should consider:
Minnesota will require businesses that hold people’s personal information to quickly notify them if there is a security breach. This seems like a great idea.

Michigan now requires background checks of anyone working at schools, and will ban convicted sex offenders from living or working within 1,000 feet of [...]

Idaho Senator Larry Craig’s Office Tied to Wikipedia Scandal

by Tar n Feather Em January 30, 2006

There is another Wikipedia scandal emerging, and it appears our own Senator Larry Craig (or more likely one of his staffers) is involved in it.

Wikipedia is an open-source encyclopedia that is written and policed by community efforts, meaning most anyone can change the information. They have noticed several congressional entries being whitewashed to suppress [...]

Make welfare payments more like student loans

by Tar n Feather Em January 27, 2006

Perhaps a solution to the eternal welfare problems is to make the payments more like student loans and less like grants. The interest rates could be kept very low, but they would have to be paid back and could never be dismissed through bankruptcy. Each and every monthly payment would be released only when the [...]

Golf Fees Increase was a Smart Decision

by Tar n Feather Em January 27, 2006

Kudos to not only increasing Idaho Falls golf course fees, but also to the lack of opposition to the plan. This means only those who use the Idaho Falls golf courses will pay for the upkeep, and the lack of opposition to the fee hike means southeast Idaho locals can agree on something positive. Happy [...]

Idaho Politician Priorities Evidenced Against the People

by Tar n Feather Em January 19, 2006

Reports say Governor Dirk Kempthorne’s proposal to fix the so-called ‘developer’s discount’ would reportedly roll it back in 5 years. Huh, didn’t it only take about 6 months for the bad legislation to go into effect in the first place? Now our leaders say ‘gosh it’ll take a good five years to undo it’? And [...]

Who is this guy to speak for everyone?

by Tar n Feather Em January 14, 2006

We are wondering who appointed Craig Parrish (Bannock County Republican Vice Chairman) to speak for every single Idahoan? When he states that a prominent Democratic senator “doesn’t vote the way anyone in Idaho votes” and that he “doesn’t think the way we do”, Parrish spotlights his own over-generalizing tendencies. Mr. Parrish, instead of claiming [...]
