Guest_2353 : Whether they really called the police or not who knows but I guarantee the police would have just wrote it up. And the prosecutor is going to laugh hysterically at it because its so silly.
Guest_2353 : things. And if its not on a site like myspace or facebook then you can't really show a specific victim and thus can't show that someone is purposely harassing a known person.
Guest_2353 : Furthermore this wasn't a threat IMO, it was taunting which is completely different but legal. The only other potential crime is telephone harasment (this code includes internet stuff) and that would require a pattern of harassment or actual REAL threat not what this was. To get telephone harassment or its big brother of stalking you would have to show that someone was purposely harassing someone on the internet. Say following them around to various sites and posting obscene or threatening
Guest_2353 : As something of a legal expert I can say for 100% certain no crime occurred last night. For a threat to considered assault the threat maker must have the ability to carry out said threat immediately. Obviously an internet threat can't. Furthermore it was clearly a case of dirty hands with both sides contributing. If it were a fight it would be called mutual combat meaning there is no victim.

It was completely out of line and one of only a few posts that have been removed from the site since it was sold. The thread is now closed due in part to that comment. Please lets all move on.
