If you enter the Sam’s Club parking lot, you won’t likely see a stop sign. There’s one there, but there’s a good chance you won’t notice it. That’s because the sign is so old it has faded to white. This creates for a dangerous intersection right out front of the Sam’s Club. This creates an unnecessary danger for drivers.
An organization like Sam’s should be more responsible than this. It creates an accident waiting to happen, and if an accident does happen, it’s just a matter of minutes before “lawsuit” comes into the discussion.
If you ever have the inclination to visit this Sam’s Club mega-store or one of the stores nearby, be careful. And be aware, you may have the right of way, but the person coming the other direction may not have a clue.
And Sams Club – for the safety of us all, please put out new stop signs.

Is it Sam’s that owns this? Do they own the lot, or do they just rent the building? Does anyone have info on this?
Could this be spray paint? There is another one leading out of the shopko parking lot that is spray painted white.
There is also a “white” stop sign when you leave the McD parking lot and go into the Albertsons parking lot in front of Sam’s. Me thinks something’s afoot here….
Either vandalism or really old signs. Can anyone check? Either way, they should probably be replaced.
FYI, because they are within a parking lot and thus on private property they have no meaning anyway. Non misdemeanor traffic laws, aka infractions like running a stop sign, only apply to public roadways in Idaho.
It’s an easy fix . The city should warn the said businesses with a citation for insurance reasons .. Give them 30 days to correct it or fines if they do not.
I think its safe to say we all know what a sign shaped as a hectagon means, at least we should. Its one of the questions on the driving test we all took when we applied for our DL. Being that its in a parking lot type setting Im not too concerned about it. If it was on a public roadway Im sure it would have been replaced by now.
I, for one, hate driving through parking lots because all the rules seem to fly right out the window anyway.
Ignore the white signs and watch for other drivers, because they’ll be all over the place.
Hexagon.
And these signs are, as Rich Hall would put it, “stoptional.”
Speaking of street signs… unless this has been changed since last time I looked…
When turning east from Yellowstone onto either Elm or Maple, there are no street signs to tell you where these streets are.
There are signs designating the streets across Yellowstone from Elm and Maple as Broadway and Cliff street, but no signs to say that there are different roads if you turn the other direction.
Can anyone tell me why this is or who I can ask about it?
I say, that by working with Amerigo of Pocatello, they will have no problem having me put up a legal sign, as long as the city would approve it. I have very little doubt they will, as the city and state often contract with one another. If It is not done in a week, I will get on the subject swiftly. Safety is the most important issue in this regard. And there is no excuse to endanger lives.
Actually the stop sign shape is an octagon.
Aw Ocho, you’re ruining my fun. I’ve been laughing about that for days!
They all look circular to me.
Wouldn’t hurt to add an ‘r’ to the word ‘impove’ in the title of the article, either. [improve]
