Our own Idaho Falls Fireworks are being recognized around the country as one of the best fireworks shows in the nation.
It is in the company of other top shows in the nation such as New York, Philadelphia (the birthplace of our nation), Disney World, and Washington DC. Searching for information on the show I found people talking about the show all over the internet. And review sites from professional to bloggers are rating the show as one of the best in the nation:
- http://www.digitalcity.com/2009/06/22/booms-with-a-view-idaho-falls-and-disney-world/ (ranks the show at #17)
- http://www.ruba.com/guide/Erin/Best_Fourth_of_July_Fireworks_Shows (ranks the show in the top 10)
- http://blog.ratestogo.com/best-4th-july-fireworks/ (ranks the show at #2)
It has been reported that people come from all over the country come to see the show, bringing total numbers along the river and greenbelt well in excess of 100,000 and probably thousands more watching from a short distance.
What is exciting, is now more than ever, our growing city is being put on the map. Who would have thought 17 years ago when the show started, that it would grow to one of the best shows in the nation. And the artistic talent put into this years show was particularly amazing – complete with choreographed music, a tribute to our fallen solders, The tribute to the late Wayne Richards was a special touch. Best fireworks show I’ve ever seen.
Kudos to the City of Idaho Falls, and the Idaho Falls Police Department for the challenging task of supporting the traffic flow of such an enormous event, and congratulations to Melaleuca for giving us such an amazing free fireworks show on the birthday of our wonderful nation.
Next step – get some “real “floats added to the 4th of July parade.

I have to agree. this fireworks show in Idaho Falls is the best ive ever seen.
Thank you, Frank!
We went to Pocatello this year and their fireworks show was incredible.
I’ve been to quite a few Fourth of July celebrations, but the one here is definitely nice and towards the top of the list.
The fact that Idaho Falls has a parade, festival, and display is something special for a town and community this size
Many places that have large firework displays do not offer the other two items, and when they do, they do not feel as patriotic and appreciated as ours here in IF.
We are very fortunate. Thank you Melaleuca, the IF Chamber, and the City of Idaho Falls!
I agree, Pocatello is a nice fallback show if you cant make it to Idaho Falls, or you if yeou cant handle the crowds.
But you don’t get near the same quality show.
I don’t know, I thought the quality was just as good. But to each his own. Regardless, I think it’s great that our small town is nationally recognized as having a decent fireworks show.
I, too have attended Pocatello and Idaho Falls celebrations. IF has a better spread, such as activities and booths up and down the greenbelt. You just can’t beat it. Pocatello is a million people squished around dry soccer fields and the fairground stands. Both fireworks are decent, and traffic afterwards stinks all the way around. We’re pretty lucky to have 2 good displays in our local area.
LOL! Comparing the Idaho Falls fireworks to Pocatello is like comparing a Farari to a Subaru…
What would be neat is to see Pocatello pick up the quality of their show as I wish we didn’t have to travel all the way to Idaho Falls to get a show like that. I’m thinking that it’s likely a budget restriction more than anything else.
Pocatello is not a bad show, it’s just not the same experience as attending in Idaho Falls.
Great Fireworks show, good old 4th of July, Thanks to all of those who helped make it happen.
The Lava show is decent. Atmosphere is great down there.
The Pocatello show this year was spectacular. It rivaled Idaho Falls easily.
There was a letter to the editor in this weekend’s Idaho State Journal about how offended a lady was about the tea party float at the parade. She said it contained an ax with the name “Obama” written on it. I didn’t attend the parade. Did anyone else see the float, and was it as offensive as she wrote into the paper? She also mentioned she couldn’t believe the parade powers that be let the float go as it was. Curious as to what locals thought.
I think all the easily offended folk should be put on a boat and sent out to a remote island so they can be with all the folks that care about them being offended.
That includes the tea party folk that were offended by the band setup right across from where they wanted to set up their bitch-session.
I hope all of your realize that the 4th is on a Sunday next year. Shall we start are screaming now?
If the fireworks are pushed back to Monday I won’t be attending.
This not doing anything on Sunday (expletive) doesn’t fly with me. Sunday is my get (expletive) done day.

Marcus – you’ve been especially on edge the last week or two. Do we need to have you over for a cold one? Better yet, I’ll hire a masseuse sent straight to your house!
I personally don’t care if events are held the 3rd since it all falls on a weekend anyway. Not a big deal in the grand scheme of life, and certainly not worth screaming over about a year early…
Yeah, but Independence Day is the 4th man, not the 3rd or the 5th. I’m not too worried about it at this point, but it does kind of burn my ass like a flame about three feet high.
No masseuse needed sir, and I’m drinking a cold one now! Thanks for the offer though, and I’d be happy to visit anytime!
Know of anybody looking for an employee that’s not necessarily good at any one thing but can excel at any task with a bit of training and direction? Not worried about a degree would be a plus, I don’t have one. Hit me up at mbix59 at diseasedmedia.com if you do. Marketing is getting a bit stale. Something in IT would be preferred, and I have technical experience to back it. I think the main cause of my angst is spending 40 hours a week performing mundane duties that I’m not entirely satisfied with.
Thanks for showing your concern reader.
Oh, and moderator, I think the word stuff dropped off the profanity list a long time ago for most uses. I certainly wasn’t directing stuff at anybody. The least you can do is edit in the word stuff to take the place of the words that you removed seeing as I can’t edit the comment myself. Thanks.
Who are you calling man or sir?
My husband would find that one a big surprise!
LOL @ the “stuff” edits.
Sorry reader, I must not have been paying attention, lol.
so it’s just as cool if next fourth of july i carry an axe labeled ‘Frank’?
