To Friends of The Title of Liberty,
As a member of an American community, you see firsthand how strong families with religious and moral values create stronger communities and havens of relative peace and prosperity. Community connotes unity, whether by birth or adoption, by legal or geographic descriptions, or by the bonds of shared interests or ideologies. While the radical elements of our nation are becoming more and more organized and vocal, basic goodness is often less formally organized and much less audible. The Title of Liberty organization was established in 2004 to inspire unity and help give voice to all that is good in America.
In recognition of the good you do in your own family, we extend a special invitation to you, your family, and friends to join with others from a broader context of communities in the 6th annual Liberty Walk on Saturday, June 27, in Idaho Falls. This two-mile flag procession from Taylor Crossing will culminate in posting 1,776 flags on Liberty Field on West Broadway in a dynamic Title of Liberty Flag Display for the Independence Day celebrations.
This flag display, significantly numbering “1776,” couples the Stars and Stripes with the Liberty banner in alternating sections–powerful symbolic reminders of the miracle of the cohesion of thirteen dissolute bodies into one united nation and of the historic Philadelphia State House bell that gave voice to that union.
While this set-up could happen on the field in a quiet, routine manner in the matter of a few hours and a few volunteers, the act of many people coming together from all communities and walks of life to hand-carry each flag to its spot on the field adds its own dignity and symbolic element, making this more of a drama than a display. We hope you can play a part in it, if not in the volunteer corps that sets the stage on June 27, then certainly as a guest at the field that evening at 7:00 pm for the Opening Program and Flag- Raising on the 120 foot flagpole, or some other time through July 13.
