I’m curious. Seems like there are many more than in a similar county in Texas.
Generally, there, police were in the city, State Troopers on the highway. Sheriff was almost a non-existent entity. I’m curious why. We also have state police and investigators here.

Dont know about Texas cause this isnt Texas, but here, the Sheriff is the top Law Enforcement in his county. Cities can have their own Police force but that does not cover the vast majority of the lands. The Sheriff is also responsible for all the water ways in his county as well as running the jail.
get on the Bonneville County web site and look at the email directory for Deputies. That includes support staff as well as Patrol Deputies, but you will get an idea. I would guess there are 30, including Jailers and Investigators, but thats just a guess. IFPD has about 100.
