How much personal information is too much?

There seems to be a lot of concern on this board lately about too much personal information being available.

What do you think goes over the line as far as too much personal information?

Should personal information be moderated out?

Has anyone had negative experiences after posting personal information on the internet, maybe on dating sites or other chat sites?

Has this article already asked for too much personal information? lol

Guess i’ll start this one out.
I believe people post far too much personal information online. I don’t think people think before posting. Personal information posted online is going to stay online forever and whether you’re having a bad day or a bad year, why publicize it to the world? Which is another reason I choose to remain anonymous whenever posting online. Call me a coward or not but me posting anonymously will ensure that anything I say will not come back to bite me in the ass 2,5,10 years down the road.
The average person changes professions anywhere from 4-6 times thoughout his/her lifetime. I know I’ve personally changed professions at least a half a dozen times since I was in my 20’s. It’s one thing to have personal beliefs and feel strongly about them, but it’s another to post them online under your real name. Which is why I think Slu is taking a big chance doing what he’s doing. Sure he feels strongly about an issue and thats fine. But what he doesn’t realize is he won’t be working for himself or be self employeed his whole life. I’ve owned my own business and did consulting work for many years, but these things come and go. What happens when you have to find a job and work for someone else? What happens when that prospective employer does a search on you? Most employers will not appreciate the outspoken views on dope such as the ones Slu has been posting for however long he’s been posting them. That’s going to severely limit his future job oppourtunites. And he may be fine with that. Same goes with dinatwn & Wendyjo posting their dirty laundry online for the world to see. Do you honestly think a prospective employer is going to want to hire somebody like that? In my opinion people in general are too quick to post personal information about themselves online before considering the future consequences.
That’s my 2cents on the issue.

I feel teenagers put the most out thier, and putting pictures of yourself or family members is idiodic. Why is everyone so obsessed with exhibitionism ? Another thing people do is spew hatred in ways they never would in person. Thinking nobody knows who they are makes people become more than honest, but all out hateful. I used to chat a bit but one day I realized what a waste of time it was “talking” to people that might as well be a fancy computer program. I also find it funny how upset people can get by things others type. People are having ulcers over strangers opinions online. I always get nervous filling out online applications or doing my banking as well

I agree with dog’s statements. Talking with some of these anonymous folks, is comparable to chatting with some spam bot, or some insult program. LOL

When these people completely reveal their identity, I guarantee they will be far less insulting.

Cowards.

Your cheatin’ heart will make you weep
You’ll cry and cry and try to sleep
But slee-eep won’t come the whole night through
Your cheatin’ heart will tell on you

When tears come down like fallin’ rain
You’ll toss around and call my name
You’ll wa-alk the floor the way I do
Your cheatin’ heart will tell on you

Your chea-eatin’ heart will pine some day
And crave the love you threw away
The ti-ime will come when you’ll be blue

Wendy, RE: Your PN License from a previous post. You have NO License from the State Nursing Board, PN or RN, your PN License (PN-8506) was REVOKED. You must be working in a local nursing home as an NA. Also your FaceBook page, you list your age as 28 and no I don’t think you have “Botox” lips, too much lipstick maybe. Nice Hair though hehehe.

Wendy it seems you weren’t entirely truthful about your nursing career. You LPN License was revoked in 2003, according to the state board of nursing (Public Information). I read the dicipline report. So apparently you haven’t worked in health care for more than a few years, at least as a LICENSED PN.

Applejack I can understand what you said. However, at the same time there is taking accountability for what one says as well. The downside to the internet is the fact that people truly don’t have to take responsibility for what they say when they are autonomous.

Yes, I too use a screen name. Not from a fear of repercussions from what I would say, because I would say the same thing to someone in a restaurant if we were having a conversation, but because of some issues I have had in the past with odd stalker types. Oddly enough the worst problems I have had have been with people I know in real life, but I have had some issues with people online as well. It is not something I appreciate or welcome.

Well Wendyjo the Idaho Satate Board of Nursing says different. You’ve been playing Nurse since 2003 after you surrendered you license pending formal action from the State Board of Nursing. I’ve made copies of your postings here concerning medical issues and your abnormal behaivor, to the state board after a conversation with a board member. Also that member of the board I talked to has read your postings here and will be sharing that info with other members of the board.

And You Wendyjo have a enjoyable Thanksgiving also.

Wendy Jo, the State Board of Nursing Revoked your PN License and issued a discipline report after you surrended your license pending adverse action, March 2003?. A check with the state nursing board TODAY shows your PN License is NOT Active. You are not listed in PN or RN data base at the state board so IF you still claim to work in health care in Idaho you’re not working as a PN or RN. Perhaps a “Trailer Park” Nurse at Pinewood Estates?.

I’m not familiar with the discipline record you’re referring to, ricky; so can not comment. Perhaps you can cite the specific “adverse action” you speak of and we can have an ethics debate regarding the general practice of licensed care takers?

You’re certainly going out of your way to associate yourself with the PN you’ve repeatedly identified. Did the PN deny you narcotics on a continuous basis?

It is not hard to see that the postings that Wendyjo has made on many of the various issues have continually come up short. Claiming to be married to a Doctor. Claiming that a relative was given a lighter sentence than what was in the official record. Stating facts in the Hall case which are totally opposite of the police report. Claiming initially to be in her 20s when actually in her late 40s etc. It is apparent that she likes all of the attention that she is getting as she has no where else to get it other than on line. Rick thanks for the notification to the State as they are seriously concerned about the revocation and the implications of practicing without a license. The wheels are in motion.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone:

Rick: You should submit an article to Idaho Falls Today about these type of suspensions. It would be interesting to learn why there is such a high amount of discipline in the nursing profession and just how safe are we with some of the nurses that the different firms employ.

It would also be interesting to know if someone like WJO
has had her license revoked how is she able to work in the medical field.

Thanks

Rick, if I had my license revoked why would I need to check? If I had my license revoked don’t you think I’d already know? Matter of fact, why would you think someone wouldn’t know their license was revoked AND why feel the need and desire to inform them? Do you think you work for the Idaho State Board of Nursing, Rick?

Rick, what will you do if the Idaho State Board of Nursing does not contact me? Will you assume my last name is not the one you’ve claimed to to be, or perhaps that I have an assumed identity? Maybe you’ll decide that someone on the board dropped the ball and that you need to re-file your very important complaint.

Tomorrow is Monday, Rick. Have a plan.

Guest324…I work in Emergency Services, most the Nurses I come in contact with are from the ED (Emergency Department) but I’ve had dealings with floor rn’s, specialty rn’s and such. I believe we are very fortunate to have such good, qualified (licensed), compassionate nurses in the local medical community. I really don’t think WJGH works in the medical community, maybe in the cafeteria or selling flowers in a gift shop but doubtful.

My beef with WJGH started with her slamming the woman Blake Hall admitted to stalking and she didn’t stop there. WJGH tried to drag EIRMC Staff into her small fantasy world, the Doctor the woman married. WJGH has made a mockery of the local medical community and she’s not even a member of it and thankfully will never be.

Who knows if they’ll use it, but it’s there if needed in the future. I’m glad you took the nursing license route Rick, I picked the legal one. Rick, if you would like to see what I sent, create an anonymous yahoo account and I’ll send it to you. We’ll confirm ID first so WJ doesn’t try to weasel in to our communication. I don’t even know the parties involved but once a line was crossed, I took action.

I totally agree that WJ went off the deep end with how she did it It’s also embarrassingly obvious that the people obsessed with WJ and spending so much effort trying to share WJ’s personal info need at least as much psychological help as she does (but we probably all do in different ways).

WJ’s bizarre and nasty ghetto approach aside, I’m not the only one who noticed that WJ did a good thing by balancing things out. It’s obvious both the attorney and his ex-wife have issues and both were at least temporarily citizens of Crazy Town; yet only his name was in the press and being trashed because of his prominent position. It is very obvious that she was no angel either.

So thanks WJ for pointing that out (and no I’m not WJ and don’t know her). Just try to know when to stop in the future – it seems once your gossip mode kicks in, the inability to stop in time to save your own credibility and dignity gets in trouble sometimes. It’s obvious that you do have a stop button installed, but it just needs pressed much sooner. Your point will be made much more effectively if you do. Otherwise, the (negative) attention goes more on you than what you’re talking about – which weakens the point. Take comfort in knowing however, that if anyone is STILL focusing on trying attack you and ‘expose’ you after this comment, they are crazier than you are in their own stalking way.

Back to the topic. I recently hired a contractor to do some work on my home – for his sake I won’t be more specific than that.

I was originally considering doing a much larger project that would have been much more lucrative for him. When I found information he shared about himself online (especially very childish R-rated photos), I scaled the project down to be much smaller as a test.

This turned out to be a good idea. He actually did good work but did not have a clue about how to be a business owner regarding communication, planning, reliability, and transactions. As a result, the project as a whole was much more of a hassle than it needed to be. For this reason I’ve decided to go with someone else for the larger more expensive project. Again, he did good work, but he needs to be actively managed. He should be working for someone else or at least have a strong partner who is more competent in the business end of things.

The online “information” that he shared about himself was very helpful to me in making the decision to “start small” at first as a test. I don’t think he realized how easy it was to see the pictures he shared and his general attitude about things.

Actually, “hmmmm”, personal credibility and dignity were the least of my concerns when anonymously charting on the interweb. Rather, I saw a good man being thrown under a proverbial bus by a woman pretending to be a victim, and many persons bad mouthing the guy. Aren’t they all tough.

So, without being asked, I sort of balanced out the playing field. As is well known, “all is fair in love and war.”

Oh, and by the way, ricky, no ringy dingy from you know who.
