Help Me Bring Sunflower and Sprouts to Idaho Falls!

by cowywaaz May 28, 2009

RE: the Idaho Falls Food Coop and thoughts of bringing in another store of
that type.
Someone posted the idea of Whole Foods locating to Idaho Falls.  I would like
to make another suggestion that people look into……….Sunflower Market or
Sprouts.  I live in Denver and am contemplating a move to IF, but am spoiled
by the number of wonderful [...]

by Jarin C May 26, 2009

There are certain things I like to do. I like to go hunting with my Father. I like to go shopping with my Mother. I like to listen to my Uncle teach me how to be a man, and how to reload bullets. I like to watch my Aunt be the perfect hostess. I like [...]

Tea Party and Memorial Day Rally

by The Gadsden May 21, 2009

I was glad to see mention of this weekend’s Memorial Day Rally and Tea Party activity posted on the poll. Unfortunately, after reading the live chat portion of the blog, I realized many of the readers unaware of the details for the rally.
That being said, the Memorial Day rally is a great way to [...]

Where’s the justice? Are our judges too soft on crime? Is the judicial system broken?

by Joe Plumber May 20, 2009

IDAHO FALLS – A local woman, Brooke Armstrong, 34, was sentenced this week to four months in jail and eight years probation for stealing more than $150,000 from three area businesses.
Four months, and that’s it? I cannot believe how light her sentence was! In addition to the jail time and probation, prosecutors are requesting [...]

Help us, Help you. Early Retirement, Investment!

by Kelynn Cherry May 20, 2009

My partner and I currently reside in Idaho Falls, ID. We both grew up here, and have lived elsewhere. The draw of Idaho Falls has us back, yet again. Thank someone for the bubble we live in that helps us with employment, and such. I have been with the love of my life now for [...]

Regarding quality of work by local businesses

by abillabongbelle May 18, 2009

We moved here in 2005.  Since then we have had several experiences with the local businesses.
I feel I must comment on Rocky Mountain Cabinet and Millworks.  We hired them to redo our kitchen.  The work was substandard in several areas.
We were not informed that premade cabinets were being used.  Several times we emphasized that due [...]

Parking Spaces for “Green” Vehicles

by Alice May 18, 2009

As the weather gets nicer I notice more and more scooters and motorcycles out (including mine). I also notice that there are several parking spaces taken up by these vehicles.
I propose smaller parking spaces, placed close to destinations, to reward people who are driving smaller “greener” vehicles. This would also free-up spaces for cars, as [...]

Is Idaho ready for legal marijuana?

by slu2 May 18, 2009

On May 13th in the “Boise Weekly” there was an article ran about the 300 person crowd at the state capitol for the “Global Marijuana March”.
Ref:  http://www.boiseweekly.com/gyrobase/Content?oid=oid%3A323768
I have been saying this for a long time, I believe that Idaho will be the 14th state for legalizing marijuana in one way or another.  However, it looks [...]

Jealousy. Among the worst of human emotions.

by Neal Larson May 13, 2009

[Originally posted at www.larsonshow.com]
Jealousy is a terrible thing.
I will preemptively tell you that I am taking the liberty of assuming the subject of this story rammed her car into her husband’s car because she was jealous.
News reports say that Leticia Guerrero of Idaho Falls was arrested after she ran her car, multiple times, into her [...]

What is the key to a good blog?

by slu2 May 13, 2009

I have been thinking about the comments that have been made to me about posting on a particular topic.
I have a cause that I believe in with all of my heart and soul, and moving to Idaho made that reality more pronounced because of legal situations that prevent me from getting the medication that [...]

2009 legislative session sputters to a stop.

by Neal Larson May 11, 2009

I’ll be interviewing Governor Butch Otter Tuesday morning for my noon-hour radio show, and I’d like your input. What questions would you like to hear asked of the Gov? Please take a moment to post, if you would.
Here’s my take:
If the 2009 legislative session had been made into a TV movie, it would have had [...]

How much personal information is too much?

by Alice May 11, 2009

There seems to be a lot of concern on this board lately about too much personal information being available.
What do you think goes over the line as far as too much personal information?
Should personal information be moderated out?
Has anyone had negative experiences after posting personal information on the internet, maybe on dating sites or other [...]

Helmets, Seat Belts and Acceptable Risk.

by Alice May 6, 2009

I drive a scooter, weather permitting, and I love it. I’m looking to purchase my first motorcycle this summer, and I always wear my helmet.
Do I wear it because I think I should? Yes. Do I think people should have to wear them… no. I wear my helmet because I want to watch my kids [...]

Psychic Musicians and Astronauts

by Jarin C May 6, 2009

I was watching TV, and I saw a pretty good commercial. I was not, and am not interested in the product, but the music playing moved me deeply and I have been trying to understand why there was such an emotional connection. The song is called Major Tom (Coming Home) as performed by the band [...]

Recognizing Local Business

by AppleJack May 6, 2009

I know we have a post that lists locally owned restaraunts, but I wanted to write a post that recognizes local business.  I recently purchased a new “used” vehicle from South-Town Sales and I wanted to let everyone know what great service I received.  Their located at 5634 S. Yellowstone Hwy and their number is 522-0070.
I’ve [...]

The Taliban in Pakistan

by AppleJack May 6, 2009

The Taliban is taking over Pakistan and looking to gain control over the capital.  President Obama is deeply concerned about the situation. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090506/ap_on_go_pr_wh/us_us_pakistan
As we all know Pakistan has nuclear weapons and God help us all if the Taliban takes over that country’s nuclear arsenal.  This is going to be a huge test for the Obama [...]

Is cannabis the cure for cancer?

by slu2 May 5, 2009

@Joe Eagle  — I have been fighting with this issue for a long time, and it helps me to cope by participating in this discussion with others.   It may be too much to ask for you to post a 3rd article on marijuana legalization.   If so, I understand.  I won’t be offended if you don’t [...]
