Idaho Falls is the new home of Hard Hat Steakhouse, a locally-owned and operated restaurant that started out in Pepsi trailers at Rodeos and is now the largest restaurant in the city. The menu offers everything from prime rib to spinach and strawberry salads. The restaurant opened over the weekend to an overwhelming response – come in and check us out! It’s one of the few purely local restaurants, and we cook a mean steak.

What’s the address? What does the average meal cost? What are the hours of operation? Kid friendly? Portion size?
They used to have a little catered type setup in the mall and they do make a mean prime rib sandwhich with some tasty au jus on the side. Remember though it is a steak joint so it’s rather pricey. If I remember correctly it was something like 8.50 for my steak sandwhich. I don’t mind paying a little extra though when the food is really good, which this was. I look forward to trying the place out.
If I heard the news report correctly last night, their located in SnakeRiver Landing, south of Iggys. (someone may want to confirm that tho)
Applejack – yep, that’s them. It’s pretty much the only other major property in SRL, you’ll see it if you go.
Average meal cost is $20 or below for dinners, and most lunch items are below $10. There’s also a 15-minute lunch guarantee. Hours are 11am-10pm Sun-Thur and 11am-11am Friday and Saturday.
It’s very kid-friendly with a kids menu and a kids play area (complete with a separate, kid-size room, toys, and things to draw on.
Portion size is TOO DAMN BIG.
Steaks and salads, pretty much sums up the favorites for my family, we’re definitely going to check it out, thanks!
Just got done leaving chow on my plate, I couldn’t eat it all. The fried zucchini appetiser is awesome, as is the prime rib. Lots of entrees in the $12-$18 range. My wifes 12 oz prime was only $12.
Think construction motif, lots of pine, stainless steel, and tool belts hanging around the waitress’s hips. The duct tape name tags are a fantastic touch, and the service was over the top.
To get there you drive past Iggys, and turn right on the street in front of the funky little pier that almost makes it into the river. The Hard Hat is about a quarter mile up the road on the left hand side. The signage is terrible though, just look for the only parking lot with cars in it.
By the way, this was a Rexburg restaurant that also did catering, my wife and I ate at their Rexburg store the first time a couple years ago. Back then they had a fantastic line of burgers on the menu too, which, unfortunately hasn’t made the journey to their new IF digs.
I hope you guys can try them out before they get busy, you know how new restaurants pack up in this town.
oops that 12 oz prime was $16. Where’s an edit function when your really need it. ;-(
