I’m an on the go breakfast kind of guy. I want something hot but don’t usually have the time to cook and clean up anything decent for breakfast. That leaves cold cereal or fast food breakfast and fast food usually wins. So I have had just about every kind of fast food breakfast available in town. My typical favorite is a good breakfast burrito – eggs, sausage, cheese, peppers all wrapped in a tortilla shell.
Well, I’m happy to announce there is a new breakfast burrito in town that beats all the others – hands down! The new Taco Johns on 17th street has the best breakfast burritos I’ve ever had – by a mile! Now you might think a burrito is a burrito, but the quality and quantity of the ingredients make all the difference in a good meal, and Taco Johns scores 5 stars in both areas. The eggs are light and fluffy. The cheese is creamy and tasty, and the tomatoes, onions, and bell peppers are fresh and delicious! I mean fresh! They pack it full, and toast the tortilla shell just right.
So, if you’re a hot breakfast fan like I am, but don’t have the time to cook and clean, run through the drive through at Taco Johns and try their scrambler burrito (or one of their other burritos if one of those sounds good). You just might find a new breakfast love. I know I did.

I’ve got to say that my favorite is the Idaho Burrito from Los Adalbertos if you’re talking breakfast burritos. If you’re just talking food in the morning though, I usually take the Carne Asada Burrito over the Idaho. Not a huge fan of huevos for breakfast though…
Good post guest writer!
I usually just whip up 3 eggs and put some pre-packaged grated mozzerella, cheddar, or colby jack (whichever I have on hand that particular week) So my burritos are just usually egg and cheese, but occassionally I’ll have some left over steak with I’ll thinly slice and saute’ before I throw in the eggs. And often times when I cook bacon on the weekends I’ll make a little extra and put it in a zip lock baggie after it’s cooled to room temp and then I’ll crumble that into my eggs.
It’s funny you should mention breakfast burritos because I make them all the time before work. It doesn’t take very long and I only dirty a small bowl which I use to beat the eggs and a small non-stick frying pan.
However, with that being said I don’t put onions, peppers and tomatoes in mine. If I did, I’d be tasting onions and peppers the rest of the day.
I use jumbo eggs so that’s usually enough for two small burritos. (I use the soft taco size shells)
I’ll definetely give Taco Johns plain egg & cheese burrito a try though and see how they fare against mine.
I’m with Marcos, Los Adolberto’s breakfast burritos rock. To be fair, I haven’t tried the ones at Taco Johns, so it’s now on my list.
The chevron station on the corner of Woodruff and Yellowstone has some great ones too. Not to big but just right.
In the words of Lee Courso of ESPN: Not so fast my friend..
Taco Johns may be good, but Los Adalbertos on 17th is BEST. I too am a breakfast burrito junkie. Have tried them everywhere I go and the burrito at Los Adalbertos wins hands down.
Sports guy? The world may never know.
I agree, Los Adalbertos is amazing! How big are the burritos from Taco John’s?
My vote also goes to Los Adalbertos. Open 24/7
Los Alobertos get my vote as well (my stomach was growling reading this post)
I have to admit that I have thus far enjoyed my food-getting experience at Taco John’s, but Los Adalbertos also gets my vote. I haven’t tried either’s breakfast burrito, but in comparing many of the other food options from both…LA is a clear winner.
Its most likely a worker for taco johns trying to get business… but berto’s gets my vote either one…
I’ve been holding my tongue for days now Unnamed, but that read like a well placed pitch to me too.
I’ll also have to throw my vote in for Los Adalbertos, or as it’s known around our house, Colonel Sanders Mexican.
The Los Adalbertos place gives you huge helpings that’s for sure! I’ve only had a plate of loaded nachos there so I can’t comment on their breakfast burritos. Their nachos were so huge I could barely eat half of them so they get a big thumbs up from me.
I got the chance to eat at Taco Johns over the weekend and i was very impressed. Again, I didn’t get a chance to try out their breakfast burritos, but the food I did have was very good and the restaurant was clean.
I don’t eat fast food very often so when I do I’m very particular about where I eat. One of my favorites is Taco Time on 25th & 1st. Everytime I go there the restaraunt is very clean and the food is good. I’ve only eaten at Los Adalbertos once, but I was disspointed with how dirty it was, especially the kitchen. Granted I’ve only been there once and I’d like to give the the benefit of the doubt in that it could have been an “off night” for them or they had just been through a busy time (althouth it was 2am on a Thursday night), but I do look forward to giving them another try because the food I did have there was excellent.
I can’t stand Taco Bell or Fiesta Ole, but that’s just me.
And forget about fast food burger joints, I just don’t do it.
Los Adalbertos’ main location (17th) used to be a KFC, and that KFC operated for years. A lot of the perceived dirtiness is just the amount of use that the establishment has seen over time. I have to agree though, that if you’re going for clean appearance, you have to give the nod to somebody else.
I’m a fan of run-down restaurants though…ever go to George’s before he got out of the food business?
Did you people mean albertos or adelbertos because they are two completely different restaurants. Albertos is by far better than adelbertos! Adelbertos food is a joke compared to albertos. I do have to give adelbertos props for throwing a D in there name and confusing you idiots making you think its albertos. Go to the real albertos and you’ll taste the difference. On the other hand taco Johns or taco anything is about as queer as a two dollar bill. Ill have to throw my vote at albertos not adelbertos or any of them taco anything food stores.
Gator Jacks in Rigby makes a great b-fast burrito.
Los Albertos in front of Fred Myer in Idaho Falls. I like the Idaho breakfast burrito with green sauce.
