THIS IS A SCAM - THERE IS NO MALTESE PUPPY. warengay@yahoo.com is a well-known pet scammer located in CAMEROON AFRICA. This idiot scammer will ask interested buyers to pay for the dog's shipment, down payment, inoculations and any number of other miscellaneous fees. The victims wire money for the dogs but only get excuses for the delay. Instead, they're repeatedly asked for more money to cover additional "fees" invented by the scammer. Greedy scammers will concoct even more fees that the victim needs to pay after the dog has been supposedly shipped. BEWARE, THIS PET SCAM IS ALL OVER THE INTERNET. You can identify these idiot pet scammers from Africa because they will insist you pay by money order or wire transfer. NEVER wire funds via Western Union, MoneyGram or any other wire service -- anyone who asks you to do so is a scammer. Google “Cameroon Pet Scam” for more information.]

This isn’t the site for classified advertising. I recently had to part with my son’s dog after he joined the military. Use Craigslist under the pets section. I had over 50 responses and placed the dog in a wonderful home in Pocatello. Good luck and happy holidays, I’m sure you won’t have any trouble finding a good home for these puppies.
So, do we get the kindness of an update?
During these hungry times of unpleasant recession, when thousands of desperate folks are abandoning their pets to animal shelters (they can hardly afford to feed themselves, let alone their man’s best friends and the family mousers) did the Maltese puppies find homes?
Inquiring minds want to know.
Hi…I responded to this pos (that is, emailed the person) and the response that I just received back made me suspicious…and so I googled the email address and while I didn’t see anything that clearly pointed to this being illegitimate…my intuition says it’s a scam.
The person is supposedly based in Florida, for one thing…
Just thought I should post a warning
No… CRAP!?!
Why I oughta… Can you believe the nerve of some people? Actually, it;s kind of funny. How many people does the joker think he’s gonna scam out of shipment money for a free Maltese man’s best friend/pup that doesn’t really exist?
Some people. Next, Russian Brides will be offering themselves up for import and marriage.
ha ha.
I was a little suspicious that the person was just *giving away* two MALTESE pups…the things go for $1000 in many places. But I figured I have a friend who is looking into a dog and I thought it might be a nice late Christmas present…I’m on Freecycle, so giving away AKC certed dogs isn’t really surprising to me on the whole…thought it’d be worth inquiring within.
It did give me a good laugh for the day. Maybe I’ll post the response email… Ah heck, why not?
My email to him: Hi! My name is (joon) and I just saw your post on IFt.com about the Maltese puppies. Are you still looking for homes? I have a friend who after years of being in school and otherwise being on-the-go is finally settling down in the area and has wanted another dog since her mom had to give up her poodle after she left for college. She is the perfect sort of dog owner – has time for caring and would care for it very well…and while she’s never owned a maltese, I suspect strongly that her personality and their usual personality would mesh perfectly.
Thank you for your time,
(joon)
Annnnnnd…the response:

Amusing. And just a little *too* eager to get rid of these pups to an unknown home….
Wow! Finally- a new twist on the classic Nigerian scam! They’ll be asking for your ID next with all the details.
The last new twist I know of before this one was targeted at music teachers. I got on one of their spam lists, and was hit for months with Nigerians who wanted a month’s lessons for their kid, who was coming over for vacation. All of them involved sending me a check and I was supposed to send back the difference. Uh-huh… with so many Nigerians vacationing in Idaho lately, I could barely wait to jump on the deals!
I was actually thinking of a reverse burn on a couple of them- getting the bad check, then getting after them for not sending enough money to cover my wasted time. All the checks that are sent are phoney-either stolen or written on bad accounts. Same goes with any money orders they offer. The problem is, once you bite, you’ll be swamped with this spam forever.
we have these maltese puppies which we are willing to give them out to a caring home,if interested in having them just email us for more details.
Yeah, I just received the same email from this gentleman. I really wanted a puppy for a long time… I just went to look up scams just to make sure that he was for real… Im glad i saw this website. His email is just like everyone else says. warengay@yahoo.com
I just saw a maltese that someone was giving away, so I thought why not. I received an email back and the person went on to say that I do not have to pay for puppy, or anything. They said that they were giving the maltese away because she did not have time for her because she was doing an internship in “CAMEROON AFRICA”. Also the add was for a male and was a different picture but she (if she is a she) sent me a different picture and was calling the maltese a female with a different name. This persons email is malcolio@yahoo.com. I knew was a scam right away but would like to warn people. This is probably the same person just different email.
YEAH WARREN GAY OR WHO THE HELL EVER HE IS SCAMMED ME I THOUGHT THIS WAS GONNA EALLY HAPPEN IF I COULD I WOULD SO HURT HIM I SENT 100 DOLLARS TO THAT NO GOOD SCAMMER AND GOT NOTHING HE EMAILED ME ACTING LIKE A WOMEN SAY THIS IS BRENDA GAY THE WIFE OF MR GAY AND HE HAS BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT AND I NEVER HEARD FROM EM AGAIN ! i kinda feel like the idiot but i never did anything like this before so i didnt know just beware of warengay@yahoo.com
Be thankful it was only 100 bucks. I don’t know why people don’t use more common sense when buying things from people they don’t know or have never met.
Don’t buy anything off the internet unless it’s from a reputable business ie: Amazon, Ebay, etc and you’re better off using either Paypal or a credit card, this way you’ll be reimbursed monies lost if you get scammed or aren’t satisfied with purchase.
I thought that was just common sense but evidently people still get taken, which is why these scams are still around.
Another thing you need to do is notify Yahoo that this guy is using their email service to scam people. They’ll shut him down and prevent him from opening up a new account under his current IP address. Sure it won’t last long, but it will be an inconvienence for him for a little while at least.
I got scammed as well, out of 600,
how can i get this man caught, or get my money back?
You won’t get your money back. Take it as a lesson learned. Don’t send anonymous people on the internet money. Use a little common sense.
We really need to just ignore anything we get on the internet and assume it’s a scam. If these people don’t make any money, they’ll eventually quit, and that’s the only way to stop them.
If you want something, search for it yourself.

Those of you that have been scammed need to go to my site, I help people with Identity theft, and this is what this will lead to, it’s more than someone getting you checking account info, it’s about them becomming YOU,,
http://www.whosbeingyou.com
They’re more than welcome to “become me”, they won’t get very far. With a credit score of 305, I want to become someone else too.
That is the biggest misconception when it come to ID theft, just because you have a bad credit score doesn’t mean that they can’t open new accounts with you info, they can, and it will be with a higher interest rate, even if it’s only $500.00 that’s a starting point. Sadly most people have this attitude..
What about someone commiting a crime, with your info, that won’t show up on a credit report, and it doesn’t matter what your credit score is, when someone uses your info to commit crimimal acts it will be up to YOU to prove your innocent.
Thats where you’re wrong. If somebody has a credit score that low, their going to have to either put a bunch of money down to get a pre-paid credit card. And forget about store, gas or any other credit cards, those companies will flat out refuse you. Car loans or any other type you’re going to need a lot of money down, and most ID thiefs aren’t going to bother with someone who has that bad of a credit score. They want the quick easy pay off.
Besides, it’s not that difficult to monitor your own credit and I don’t understand why people would pay somebody else to do what they can easily do themselves.
my 2 cents
Regardless of your credit score, someone can get ahold of your information and make your life miserable.
I’m VERY careful about my information, and somehow, someone got ahold of my credit card number. Luckily, it was actually a debit card, and I never have much money on it, so they were probably quite disappointed that they bothered with it. I was able to contact each place where they spent money and all but one (of 4, I think) transactions were refunded to me.
The one that absolutely would not refund my money was eharmony.com. From what I was told during the process, eharmony has the biggest occurrence of internet fraud of any other company, which is probably why they refused to return that transaction. That also tells me that, even if I were in a position to use eharmony, I would be very wary of the people using it.
Besides, it’s not that difficult to monitor your own credit and I don’t understand why people would pay somebody else to do what they can easily do themselves.
I understand what you are saying, yet you don’t have access to all areas of you identity, try calling up your local police station and ask them to check to see if someone used your info in commiting a crime, and tell me what responce you get. True that you can monitor your credit on a credit report, The question is, how much time are you willing to devote in cleaning up your credit report when you see info on there that isn’t yours. Are you willing to fill out all the forms, flie all the reports, with local law enforcement as well as law enforcement in the areas where your Identity is being used at? And what about legal councel, the laws are different depending on the severity of the crime, as well as WHAT STATE YOUR IDENTITY IS BEING USED AT, are you willing to pay an attorney in that state there going rate to defend you?
Try googling your name and see who else has the same name it will shock you. This article deals with mostly fraud, and with accounts that are existing, which you as the consumer are responsabile for. As I said before it’s only the tip of the iceburg..
What kind of crime can be committed using somebody elses identity? Other than stealing somebodys credit card? As long as you dont carry your Social Security card or number on you and nobody gets ahold of that, you should be ok. If somebody wants to use your name, it’s there word against yours and it’s not very difficult to prove who you are and where you were at a certain time. So what kind of crimes are you talking about? You’re acting like everyone is so callous with their information and leave it lying around everywhere. Every item that comes into my home that has my name on it is either put in a file if it’s a bill or whatever and everything else gets shredded.
Your average person who is aware of where their information goes and who gets it, doesn’t need to pay somebody else to protect their identity.
As for googling my name, I do it all the time and nothing ever comes up. I don’t have a commonly used name such as John Smith.
If somebody does get my information, you’re damn right I’ll spend as much time as it takes filling out forms and going to the courthouse to straighten it out. I wouldn’t want to leave that up to somebody else to handle.
What kind of crime can be committed using somebody elses identity?
What you are NOT understanding is that EVERYONE is in someones data base, your employer has your information, the schools that you attended have the info, hospitals, doctors offices, places that you have shoped at. As for shreading you info, that’s great, but ID theves are not dumpster diving, they are hacking into data bases, getting hundreds of SSN, birthdates. Have you forgotten all the reports on companies that have “lost” information on their customers, and they have offered free credit monitering for them for a year?
You ask what kind of crimes can be commited, pick up the paper, and read where someone was arrested or detained because they have an outstanding warrent for their arrest, even though they did nothing wrong, read about kids that have hundreds of dollars in debt, yet they can’t even pick up a pen, ID theft amoung children is rising, beause the theves know that they have years to live off it, If you would like I’ll be more that willing to list some expamles, some from right here in Idaho Falls.
This site just received the following post submission for this scam:
Why are you yourself involved in a different scam then? Your whosbeingyou, com site is hosting the Blastoff / Pre-Paid Legal MLM scam. Wake up.

I love how you assume that the company that I work for is a scam, check us out, do you really think that top law firms that represent us would even touch our services with a 10′ pole? You would think that if our company was a scam that we would not be around for 32 years, be publicly traded on the market ( the symbol is PPD). All I was offering was a service to help people, but i see it’s your entent to try to discredit anyone that you feel..
You may want to check out this site as well, this is a direct link to the company. http://www.prepaidlegal.com/hub/brettferguson
