Black Friday

Media reports both locally and nationally state that Christmas shopping, the day after Thanksgiving was impressive; even though shoppers were being cautious.  Pretty impressive considering the depressed economy.  Guess folks are keeping a few bills between their mattress and box spring.

So how many of you braved the crowds?  Unlike past, multiple years, there were no “hot” toys or electronic “have to haves” for shoppers to purchase for their children and other loved ones.  What else is their to buy besides gift baskets, socks, gift certificates and boxes of chocolates?

No, I didn’t go out on “Black Friday,” and never have.  I hate to shop, and wouldn’t shop on the biggest shopping day of the year.  I don’t even shop on Friday or Saturday, because that appears to be the favorite shopping days of the week for most shoppers.

Oh, plus, my brother, FIL and I had to admit my Mom to the hospital at 0100 on Friday morning, after Thanks Giving.  She had a constricted bowel (old scar tissue), and her Friday was really BLACK. She had 2 feet of bowel removed.  HOLEEE TURKEY!  Otherwise she’d have been out shopping with they best of the diehards.

So, how many of you braved Black Friday, and how much shopping did you get done?  Most of it, some of it, or all of it?  Was it worth facing the crowds,  I mean did you make a killing in savings?
