Line-Drive for Food” Charity
Event to raise funds for the Idaho Falls Community Food Bank and will include silent auction for one-on-one training with Butler and more.
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho, October 30, 2008 — Foothills Rehabilitation and Performance Services is proud to host this year’s “Line-Drive for Food,” a charity baseball event benefiting the Idaho Falls Community Food Bank and featuring major-league baseball player Billy Butler of the Kansas City Royals and formerly of the Idaho Falls Chukars. The event will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2008, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hillcrest High School Gymnasium, with all proceeds being donated to the Idaho Falls Community Food Bank.
“It’s a pleasure to come home to Idaho Falls and help make a difference in the community,” said Butler. “I look forward to meeting the young players and offering any baseball tips I can share, all for this great cause to help the Idaho Falls Community Food Bank.”
The event will include a presentation by Butler on hitting and other baseball mechanics as well as what it took to make it to the “big leagues.” Participants will be asked to make a donation to the Food Bank as admission to the event.
“We are thrilled to have Billy Butler and Foothills Rehab on our side as we strive to meet the growing demands on the Idaho Falls Community Food Bank,” said Buck Horton, chairman of the of the Food Bank. “With demand up more than 50 percent this year, we are extremely grateful to all who are willing and able to help.”
In addition to the presentation by Butler, the event will also offer a silent auction to enhance the Food Bank donations. Auctioned items will include a Billy Butler-autographed baseball bat, tickets to a Kansas City Royals baseball game, private hitting lessons with Butler, and more.
“Billy Butler is a complete class act. His generosity in providing his time and resources for our community in order to benefit the Food Bank is exceptional, “said Brent Kennedy, physical therapist and partner at Foothills Rehabilitation and Performance Services. “We are honored to host this event and encourage all to attend and give a hand to those in need.”
The recommended minimum donation for admittance to the event is $15 per individual (or $10 with two cans of food) or $30 per family (or $25 with 2 cans of food per family member). Each attendee will also receive a free baseball and the opportunity for autographs with Billy Butler. Participants will also be treated to refreshments from local vendors.

In 2007, the Food Bank distributed nearly $500,000 in food items to individuals and families in need. The Food Bank operates as a committee of the Regional Council for Christian Ministry Inc., a non-profit religious organization.
