The Eagle Rock Co-op is OPEN!
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to the newsletter or RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
It’s a “soft” opening as their grand opening is scheduled for mid September.
They have products on the shelves and in the coolers, but they don’t have much in the way of produce yet. They have a selection of meats and cheeses, some bulk items, coffees and teas, and various natural type shelf items (such as you normally find in the health food stores locally).
It’s a very small store right now, but they admitted they were expecting to outgrow their location very soon.
They are still accepting half price memberships (full price after the grand opening is $150). You can shop there even if you’re not a member, but you will pay an extra 5% for your items.
You can check them out at 368 A St in Idaho Falls. (208) 529-6993. They are open Monday thru Friday from 10am-7pm.
They have a website… http://www.eaglerockcoop.blogspot.com
I am so excited about the opening after all this time! What about you? Do you plan to be a member, or are you already? What kinds of products are you hoping to find there?

This is really exciting. I love Co-Op’s. And if your not a member, 5% is no big deal for the the quality and convienence, I am soon to expect. The fresh locally grown produce, would be a very nice thing to have. Let’s all hope it is as such soon. Thank You, Eagle Rock. And Thank You, IdahoFallsToday.com, for the opportunity we have here, as a community.
I don’t think they are expensive at all. Very comparable to what you would pay for similar products in the supermarkets, if the supermarkets have them. I think the Eagle Rock Coop is off to a great start and will continue to get better.
Question for previous poster: Since you made a comment that you think they need some improvements what areas besides pricing do you suggest need improving?
Right, I am just saying, how realistic is it for most people who are on a very limited food budge (I try to spend no more than $100/week on groceries) to shop at such a place, rather than Walmart or Smiths (not health food stores. . . I can’t afford to shop at those)?
Might be a nice luxury from time to time but not within the means of most shoppers with families to feed. But I haven’t heard much on cost comparisons yet.
I feel the same way Easterner and spend about that much myself each week. I’m finding that more and more WalMart, Smiths & Fred Meyers carry organic foods of all kinds now. I buy quite a bit of organic food and there’s really not much you can’t find between those three stores. And at much cheaper price than the co-op. Like you noted, it’ll be nice to shop there from time to time, but on a weekly basis it’s just not feasible or realistic for most people who have a budget for their weekly groceries. I haven’t had a chance to check them out yet, but hope to this wknd. I wish them all the best and I hope they make it through these tough economic times. (I’d also like to know the cost comparision, so if anyone can contribute there that’d be great)
