Brad Stowell back in prison

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to the newsletter or RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Brad Stowell apparently violated his probation by not having a job, and getting a laptop. He’s back in prison now. My guess is that the parole board, after catching all the flack they caught, was looking for a reason to put him back in prison.

I’m glad he’s back behind bars. He has no business enjoying freedom.

Nice how they picked him up for not having a job. That is a b.s. charge……as for the laptop, seems to me that unless it had WIFI and/or content showing internet access since he was out it won’t stand up even at a parole hearing.

So, if they jumped the gun, then it will tick off the Commissioners….now they will have to put him back out on parole and the rath of the public will be severe!

I believe he should never have been let out of prison in the first place. Let me make that clear.

But the reasons he’s being sent back for smell very bad to me. I think they are merely an excuse for the parole board to try and CYA themselves after letting him go.

For instance not having a job: I imagine its hard for the 2nd most notorious child molestor in Idaho to get a job (Joseph Duncan is #1). So I really can’t fault him on that unless its shown he wasn’t even trying.

Having internet access???? Whoopdeedoo who cares. In theory I suppose they think he might try and use it for child porn or soliciting sex. But if he lives in Boise he could easily do that from a public computer at an internet cafe or library so isn’t it better to have him doing at a computer that can be monitored.

As I said, he does belong in prison. I just wish he’d been there for the molestations not trumped up parole violations.

But isn’t the point he KNEW he wasn’t supposed to have a laptop or be on the internet and he did it anyway? And I’m sorry, if illegals all have jobs within days of getting here, so could Mr. Stowell. Unless he feels he’s higher than picking rocks or moving pipe…

No sympathies from me, the parole board shouldn’t have let him out period, but they did, he had rules which he knowingly broke, so back to the big house he goes. I think I’ll send him soap on a rope for Christmas.

I bet parents with boys in his neighborhood were relieved.

It depends on the terms of Stowell’s Parole. Most on parole MUST have a job within a specified period or show their job interviews etc. where they were denied jobs.

I agree with Reader above. Illegals can get jobs within days. I wonder if Stowell is willing to wash dishes or some other jobs.

The Parole Board screwed up granting parole. However, like every other parolee, Stowell has to follow his “rules.” Where did Stowell get the $ for a laptop if he wasn’t working?

Maybe he is just hoping to get to meet Kimball Mason. After all, isn’t this Stowell’s second parole and now 3rd imprisonment?

1. Sex offenders in Idaho are not allowed to use a computer AT ALL. - However if it was a laptop - chances are it has WIFI as it has been a mobile computing standard since 2002 or 2003

2. parole requires you to have a job within a predetermined time as done with your PO during the intial meeting where you set goals.

9 times out of 10 the Parole and Pardons comission trusts their Officers.

It will be interesting to see what happens.

It should also be noted - that Idaho Sex offenders have to go through Polygraph Tests at least twice a year - high profile offenders sometimes quarterly

So if they did go on the internet they would be caught.

It’s not as easy as people think to get a job, especially if you’re a felon and even harder if you’ve been hit with a molestation or sexual abuse charge. Everyone runs background searches in this day and age and his options are extremely slim. Of course that’s his problem and price to pay for what he’s done, but illegals have a much easier chance of getting a job than a convicted felon does in this day and age. Plus your “illegal” is going to work twice as hard and most farmers and contruction foreman know this.

Yup, I think it was fishy how they brought him back, but y’all know that I think he should be locked up for life so I’m not really wasting any sadness on him…just on the idea that if you anger society your rights can be suspiciously overrun…

And I agree, who would knowingly hire him anyway?

I am curious, how did he get that laptop with no job? I guess having no job does not translate into having no money…

Why fixate on the source of the laptop? Maybe his family gave it to him so he could stay in touch with them. Maybe he bought it with money he had saved. What does it matter about where it came from? If he violated the conditions of his parole, he should face the consequences. If one of the problems of being a convicted felon is difficulty finding a job, then let future ‘do-badders’ beware! :) But, that’s just my view. I don’t know much.

That’s a certainty in this life, Find Humor #8. If you don’t want to do the time (and have all the after effects of having a felony conviction), you should have thought of those things before you did the crime.

And if you didn’t bother to think of those things, then you’re probably better off incarcerated anyway, because most people need critical thinking skills to make it through everyday life in one piece.

Stowell’s use of a computer was one of the reasons he violated his first probation and put him behind bars. Now that he’s done the same thing twice, I’m sure he will serve at least the minimum sentence he was given.

The probation officers want to see a parolee looking for a job if they don’t have one. If Stowell was actively job hunting, he could have provided a search history, but the computer violation was enough to send him back to the iron bar hotel. Without the computer, he may have been given some slack if he could prove he was actively job hunting.

Brad Stowell, the pedophile felon, had been out of prison for five weeks, which the parole board felt was plenty of time for him to have located employment; one of the conditions of his probation.

The first time he was out on probation, he violated probation by viewing child pornography on the internet; explaininging it helped him “get it up” so he could have sex with his wife. He was then put back in jail for approximately one more year. He was more than aware that he could not get a computer or use a computer/the internet without permission from his po. He did it anyway, thinking he could get away with it; he didn’t.

Hopefully he’ll be back where he belongs and will stay there for a long time to come. I don’t think it is uncommon for child predators to have an incredibly charming streak to their nature. I think that is in part, what helps them catch their prey. I understand John Q. Public being fooled by this charm. I don’t understand PO’s and judges being charmed by them. Brad Stowell clearly violated the terms of his probation and he didn’t even wait to do so. He obviously thinks he can get away with anything. He needs to be stopped and the way to do that is to lock him up for a very long time.

I’m pretty sure the public is angry because they weren’t fooled, at least not this time. At least not by Brad Stowell.

The legal system that is suppose to protect the public fooled the public this time. They released the pedophile without notifiying his prior prey.

The probation officer wasn’t fooled, and quickly busted his worthless you know what. Why the prison released him so early?¿?

It’s all about money, and our safety is of secondary importance - I’m sure. Regardless, the slime is back in prison, where he belongs.

Wendy jo - ????///// how do you make the upsidedown ? Mr Stowell is back in system where is he held longterm?it seems to me his parents move to his location.

No, Mr. Stowell’s parent’s don’t follow him to his prison
placements. They can’t afford the relocations. They do
try to be as supportive of their son’s rehabilitation as
they can be. I’m sure their hearts are as broken as are
the hearts of the parents who the monster trampled
upon. Essentially, “Bradley” stomped on the souls of
his mother and father, just as he did those of each of
his other victims.

Obviously people like Brad Stowell are sick individuals because they are sexually attracted to children. Lets face it, they cannot be cured, just like you or I cannot be cured because we are sexiually attracted to adult women or men. All of you folks out there who have normal attractions to adults, could you be cured of your sexual attraction? Absolutely not. This is why people like Brad Stowell should never be free. They cannot be cured. Sooner or later they will offend again and hurt another child somewhere along the way. I’m having a hard time dealing with the fact that he was released at all. The minute that he was released he immediately started breaking the rules by not searching for work and by having internet access. I’m infuriated in knowing that his wife is still sticking with him. What is wrong with her. Not to mention, who gave him the laptop, what were they thinking.

Nobody “gave” him a laptop, he bought it. And when you purchased your laptop or pc did the store run a background check on you to see if you were a sexual predator? I don’t think that’s standard operating procedure at Best Buy. :) Other than that, I completely agree with you. I too was shocked when he was let out of prison after completing less than a third of his sentence. He belongs in prison for the rest of his life for what he’s done.
But until we as Idahoans demand harsher mandatory sentencing for sexual predators and pedaphiles in this state, these types of sick individuals will continue receiving a slap on the wrist from our lame judges. It makes one wonder if some of these judges are sexual predators or have some type of “shady past” themselves. I mean why else would they consistantly give light sentences to every sexual predator/pedaphile in this state? (let alone always letting these predators out early) It just doesn’t add up.
(just my opinion)

Guest House, I’ve seen variations of your comment #19 before on this site by others. But judges give light sentences in all areas, sometimes. So we can’t assume they are also secret drunk drivers, secret murderers, secret rapists, secret tax cheats, secret burglars, etc. (Although my belief is that we are all human and have our own skeletons in our respective closets).

We can bring to light the sentences that seem to be short (as opposed to standard or maximum time for the crime) and also those laws which allow for inappropriately short terms in the sentencing. Maybe the light we shed will create some desire by elected judges to be a little more willing to hand out more determinate jail time, and some desire by our elected legislative leaders to change the laws to give more sentencing options to better protect society.
