Scott Stevens Still Fighting to Prove WeatherWars Theories
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to the newsletter or RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
I have an embarrassing admission to make. I interviewed Scott (Weather-Wars) Stevens about a year ago, but lost my notes. I recently found those interview notes in some other papers, so here it is.
We probably all remember the strange circumstances when former KPVI meteorologist Scott Stevens suddenly got famous for his “weather control” theories. Scott essentially said some things about the weather being controlled by the Chinese mafia using technology from the Russian KGB, that Hurricane Katrina was caused by someone controlling the weather. Not many remember the details after that because, let’s be honest, we all thought he had gone crazy.
KPVI held onto him for about one day. at first saying it was okay as long as he didn’t bring his theories to work. Scott started his website, WeatherWars (now unavailable), and we haven’t heard much from him since. I heard he had a thing at ISU in a week when they also hosted UFO and Bigfoot experts. I emailed Scott via his website and asked if he was up for an interview, and he agreed.
I spoke with Scott Stevens via phone a couple weeks ago. He seemed busy. He had just flown in from Colorado for a few days before going onto Los Angeles, and I caught him before he went on a New York radio show.
How long has been since he left KPVI?
He said it was September 22, 2005. He said he couldn’t stay at KPVI and pursue his theories in the 2-3 week vacation time frames he got there.
What have you been doing since leaving KPVI?
Scott replied he was mostly involved in corresponding with people sending information and asking questions. He was also researching the use of electricity and magnets in weather, and how they influence rotational weather patterns. He said that electricity is drawn into the center this way, and possibly may become an energy source.
Have your weather theories have changed since those news reports last year, or have your beliefs strengthened?
Scott replied they have definitely strengthened. He says he has been privy to much more information resulting from that media attention, and that giving his observations had returned much more information. He said he believes there are international treaties governing weather use. Scott said the premise of these treaties is like nuclear pacts; don’t use your weather controls against us and we won’t use our weather controls against you.
What has the criticism been like professionally and personally?
Scott brushed this off, saying the evidence would prove out.
What about the bogus science claims leveled against your theories?
Bogus Science Claim Sign #1. The discoverer pitches the claim directly to the media.
Scott said research has not been shared because of National Security.
Bogus Science Claim Sign #2. The discoverer says that a powerful establishment is trying to suppress his or her work.
Scott says he is not aware of this, but noted that truth goes through three stages: ignored, ridiculed, and finally self-evident. Scott referred to the status quo keeping itself in place.
Bogus Science Claim Sign #3. The scientific effect involved is always at the very limit of detection.
Scott said he is using Honeywell magnetizers for detection. These 85lb data-logger pods are laid three pods out around a storm. They deduct standard deviations between that storm’s electro-magnetic frequency (EMF) and elsewhere.
Bogus Science Claim Sign #4: Evidence for a discover is anecdotal.
Scott said he has had an offer from the USDA to place instruments at remote USDA sites. He said he needs a full year’s worth of data, but was thrilled with the results at the time of this interview. An ultraviolet guy at Colorado State was excited about this theory and offered to let Scott use some of their equipment.
Bogus Science Claim Sign #5: The discoverer says a belief is credible because it has endured for centuries.
Scott quoted Tesla in 1908 saying that weather control was near at hand. Scott said there have already been forays into weather control, that the U.S. Army worked on diverting hurricanes away. He said the result was that the hurricanes actually hit us harder, so the Army said if they did more of it that it would be secret. Scott said weather is a force multiplier, and that a stated Air Force goal is to control weather.
Bogus Science Claim Sign #6: The discoverer has worked in isolation.
I don’t have a response written here, but I imagine I skipped it due to his previous response about USDA and Colorado State cooperation.
Bogus Science Claim Sign #7: The discoverer must propose new laws of nature to explain an observation.
Scott pointed out that theories like relativity and thermodynamics were once called false theories.
I know this is hokey for me, but here are some of the notes I had written on the back side, quoting things that Scott talked about:
Was writing a paper he hoped to publish in Nature soon, would be finished by the end of September 2006. Peer review was important, and that he has measured electricity spikes in storm centers. The Chinese mafia got KGB technology via bankruptcy (I image in the 90’s?) He said many countries do this. Quoted Will Cohen from April 1997 as saying terrorists are using this technology along with ecoterrorism. Global warming is a prelude to solar system changes. Regarding peer review, filters keep stuff from getting out, so not much is getting out, this stuff is obvious. The Post Register is skeptical and that is their job. Science now observes with prejudice instead of open minds.
I made clear that I am not a psychologist, but that I viewed Scott’s statements as akin to those in the movie, “A Beautiful Mind”, where as we know the genius suffers from schizophrenia. I told him I did not mean to attack him with the “you’re crazy” line, but that I was seriously concerned for him. I asked if he had been evaluated for mental illness, and he replied that he had not, he had no reason to, and he was not crazy just because he chose to think outside the box.
What about your forecast that another major weather “attack” will occur?
Scott replied that current storms are weak because of global warming, but that another weather attack will happen. He said he will prove weather can be caused from a distance with minimal energy. He said it could become a renewable energy source. He said Tesla drove 14 years without any oil, and that JP Morgan bought Tesla’s patents, then locked them up to make money off oil, copper, and other non-renewable elements.
Anything else you’d like to say?
Just look up and notice your environment. Our society is heads-down.
Again, I apologize for my problems with getting this published. Has anyone heard of Scott Stevens publishing articles on this matter? I noticed his old website is down. There is a similarly-titled free blogspot site, but it is not clear if he runs it.
What do you think?

Interesting post to say the least!
While I’ve never heard of this gentleman Scott Stevens, I’d have to say my first impression would have to be that he’s a wacko. I find it hard to believe man is capable of controlling mother nature on any type of large scale situation such as hurricanes, earthquakes, etc.
While I have my doubts regarding mans role in global warming, I thought it was the major consensus that global warming caused more frequent and much more violent storms? Which seems to be the opposite of what Mr.Stevens is claiming. Personally I don’t believe either, because if you look at last years hurricane statistics, the US didn’t have a single hurricane make landfall.
Was this the act of our military? I think not.
Since I consider myself to have an open mind, I’ll definately be reading up on this topic to learn more and while I think Tesla was a brilliant man, I never heard of him coming up with a way to control the weather.
I’ve heard about weather control in the past, more specifically the St.Louis Arch. I had a chance to go up in the Arch while visiting St.Louis many years ago and it is an awesome structure, but the tour guides never mentioned anything about it being a device to control the weather. Here is an interesting article on the Arch. http://www.failedsuccess.com/index.php?/weblog/more/arch_weather_story
If our military really has the secrets to control the weather don’t you think we would have won the Iraq war by now.
Regardless, it’s definately an interesting topic and one that I look forward to reading more about and learning more facts. It will be interesting to read the comments left on this post that’s for sure.
Great post Joe!
Here are some interesting links regarding HAARP Technology and some of the things Stevens believes. http://www.haarp.alaska.edu/

and an interesting article by Rosalind Peterson Aug 10, 2007 “Can we control the weather”?

Here’s an interesting USAToday report that they did on Stevens back in 2005:

A lot of people think he’s a nutcase.
I was doing a little investigating on my own since his weatherwars site is no longer up and running. I did find a site that referenced his weatherwars.com site and they had posted all of the pictures of the clouds for which started his fascination and basic theory. Granted, they were some pretty odd and strange looking cloud formations, but we all seen strange cloud formations from time to time. That doesn’t automatically mean that someone other than mother nature is controlling our weather. It is interesting to point out, he never did finish college and get his degree. Makes you wonder why he got fired from KPVI news. He pretty much ruined his career because of his beliefs. You really can’t blame KPVI for firing him.
I know Scott and have had the chance to talk with him extensively about his theories and ideas on weather modification.
One important thing to consider up front is that the picture painted by his national media coverage was not very accurate and they made a big deal out of one of his more speculative and fringe opinions (Japanese Mafia, misinterpreted SOHO images, etc.) and ignored a good deal of the factual information. The exposure had its benefits, no doubt, but as far as the mainstream public is concerned, he was presented as a nut job. Knowing him, he is an eccentric, but is not a nut job at all. He is a smart guy who has taken a bold step to think outside of the defined box of popular reason and belief and then make a public stand.
There is a lot of validity to weather modification, even on a large scale like he implied. The science and technology has been around for a long time. Tesla is a good place to start when looking into this. It has everything to do with his research into the properties of electro-magnetism and the different types of energy waves (scaler mainly). This technology also has a lot to do with chem trails which contain large amounts of conductive material (aluminum, barium, etc.).
Most of the info is very secret. He has talked to people who are in the know and has seen some of the info himself. This is not a dis qualifier of information, but just means that releasing or talking about it is dangerous and requires a lot of discretion. What he shared with me is quite mind-blowing. However, some of what he says I don’t buy into at all. Most of that stuff is the abstract esotericism that he promotes quite heavily now. The scientific and proven parts of his platform enticed me to do some of my own research and there is some validity to it. Time will ultimately be the proof in the pudding for what he has been talking about.
It is important to be very discerning about what you believe. Taking on someone’s opinion as fact is foolish. However, disregarding someone because what they are saying sounds so almost unbelievable, have not finished college, or (supposedly) been fired from a job is equally foolish. Do the research before making any judgments. I have.
Imagine that! Somebody that actually claims to know the guy. what are the odds?
You claim most of the info is very secret….however after doing a search for 20 minutes online, information abounds on this subject. That doesn’t seem very “secret” to me.
And…he did not finish college and WAS fired from KPVI. Many in the scientific community have discredited him and proven his theory’s bogus and of a vivid imagination. I DID my research….have you done yours?
So why don’t YOU share this “mind blowing” information with us? Or is all that too top secret for us layman to absorb & understand?
To me, Scott Stevens’ failure to finish college and the fact that he was fired from a job are irrelevant to his character or integrity. In reading his bio, it looks like he left college because of a TV job opportunity. I can’t fault someone for doing what they thought was best for themselves. Who are we to decide? As far as being fired from KPVI, as I understand it that had more to do with negative publicity about his theories than from job performance. Not finishing school or leaving a job does not make someone a bad person. And I haven’t seen any proof that his theories are bogus by “many in the scientific community.”
There’s no reason he couldn’t finish college AND work too. I did it, and other people do it every day. (escpecially in his previous line of work) As for the scientific community, you need to search a little harder….there are references all over the web regarding him being a laughing stock in many a scientific and meterological communities.
I think it’s amazing the stuff you can find online. On one hand, there are articles that have strong proof regarding some of his theory’s and on the other hand, there are many articles that discredit him and those same theory’s. It’s all a matter of what you choose to believe.
Personally, I’m still on the fence and will continue to research this topic.
Just like every single topic on this board….some will believe, and some won’t.
I still think that just because Homeslice finished college AND worked too is no reason to expect someone else to do the same. When did they get the authority to decide what’s best for everyone else? And I DID do my research. There’s a big difference between people ridiculing his theories and actually proving them wrong. Give me a break.
I seem to recall the story hit the local and national news on one day, with the KPVI station manager saying it was fine as long as it didn’t interfere with work, then the very next day Scott was released from work. I cannot recall if he was fired or if he quit, it seemed to be kind of a mutual thing. The reason was so Scott could pursue “alternative weather theories”. It would seem then that his leaving KPVI was more related to this episode rather than prior work performance.
In any case, anyone hear about Scott’s activities in the past year? Any published articles, is he still pushing or studying this theory, or has he gone onto anything else?
Regardless of what anyone thinks of his theories, I believe he was a very good weatherman. He had a outgoing personality, seemed friendly and energetic on air, and kept his private theries about weather off air and out of his day job. Have to respect that. Lord knows SE Idaho needs to try and keep around the good anchorpersons, weather and sports forcasters.
I didn’t say I believed him. What are you adding to the discussion Soupy? All I see you doing is making personal attacks yourself. Chill out man. Homeslice said there was proof debunking the theory, I challenged that. So what? Then they went on to imply that since Scott Stevens hadn’t finished college and left a job, he somehow was less of a person. News flash: Leaving college doesn’t make a person dumb any more than going to college makes a person smart. I personally know of many real life examples both ways.
I don’t know whether or not I believe his theories, but I am looking at the facts, not personal bias. I have done some searching and the most recent thing I can find is an interview that was posted on the web on 6/28/07.
Here is a link: http://www.brightcove.tv/title.jsp?title=1080165531&channel=686995599
I don’t know if that is when it was recorded though. It sounds like Scott Stevens was in Colorado when this interview was done. If anyone wants to link to some of the alleged proof that his theory is wrong, I promise I will read it. Time to ante up.
post 16,Sayit! hit the nail on the head when stating we need to do everything we can to keep good anchors, weather and sportscasters on our local stations. First thing I noticed when I started watching the local news channels was how amatuerish most seemed. On every station no less! Aside from Carol Honas & Jay Hildebrandt, those are the only two anchors that really seem have it together. All the others seem like they should be running a college newscast. I wasn’t around when Stevens was on air, so I can’t comment about that, but it seems that he let his personal beliefs get in the way of his professional career, which led to his demise. From most of the information I’ve read about him, most colleagues in his field no longer take him as a serious weatherman.
It’s one thing to think outside the box, lord knows I like to do the same. But when it impedes on your professional and personal life the way it did for him, that’s when you need to step back and ask yourself if all this is worth my career and the public humiliation that he went and is going through.
Very interesting post though. I just don’t see our government letting hurricanes Andrew, Katrina and many others destroy so much and kill so many. It just really doesn’t make sense if you look at the big picture.
I don’t know if you can call leaving his TV job “his demise” if he left to pursue what he was passionate about. I think that he would have been able to continue his weatherman job but Channel 6 was too nervous about the negative attention once his theories became public. He still did a good job with his weather reports. As for his theories, I still don’t know what to believe. But it doesn’t take a big stretch of the imagination to believe that weather can be influenced to a point. Has anyone heard of cloud seeding? I think it’s even been done around here.
Good point Guest22. I think there’s a way to influence the weather to a certain extent, just not to the extent that Stevens claims. Then again, did you check out that link regarding the St.Louis Arch? Very interesting indeed.
It just bothers me that governments and big business hold back such much in the way of the advancement and development of new products for the sake of thd almighty dollar. We could be so much more advanced as a human race if it weren’t for big business and governments holding back the reigns of technology.
The technology is out there for flying automobiles, yet look at the rate the automotive industry puts out new products? We should all be driving around in much more futuristic and fuel efficient vehicles, but the powers to be would rather hold us back in order to fatten their wallets each year. It’s a sad situation and one that personally angers me to no end. Just as the technology is available to give us over a hundred miles per gallon of gas, the automotive industry and the oil companies would lose billions of dollars in profit each year if they were to give us a vehicle that produced those numbers. So instead, they sit on technology as long as they can while we continue to pay the price and give them their vacation homes in the carribean.
I don’t really know what to think. I was at a buddy’s house when it first came on the channel 8 news. My friends said ‘oh yeah you’ve got to read this’ and pulled out the PR story. I laughed, couldn’t believe it.
From my interview with him and seeing other things, it seems he made a bit of a living doing lectures. If he really believed this is scientifically valid, I hope he didn’t go down the route of pandering to the Art Bell/lunatic fringe. I know there’s money to be made there (evidenced by Y2K sales), but then it’s becoming a sellout not really science.
It sounds really implausible, and that we have not seen a published peer-reviewed paper hurts his credibility. I feel bad for his family that they have probably been very embarrassed by this. He used to be very well respected in southeast Idaho.
Given that he seems to not have offered proof, that his website is now down, and that nobody has seen or heard from him in a few months, I’m kinda worried for him.
I think he should at least get a mental evaluation, if only to satisfy that question.
Thanks Joe for your views, and thank you Davin for that link. Very interesting indeed and very timely. I hope you all take a moment to look at that link I left above regarding HAARP. It is a scary thing and in the wrong hands, could be devastating. We’re so worried about terrorists abroad, yet many in our government and military are far worse.
Many of these posts coincide, such as Impeachment of Bush, Do you support seding more Troops, etc etc. Americans really need to wake up and start taking a more active role both in our local governments and with who we vote into office on the national level. We’ve become so detached from our government and this is why we continue to lose so many freedoms each and every day. Then we have extremists like Mike who think what our current administration is doing is right. It’s hard to believe ANY American supports the Patriot Act, yet nobody is willing to fight for their freedoms anymore. Our government was set up so “We The People” are in charge. Not the fat cats on Capital Hill & big business. There are far too many corrupt government officials currently in office and it’s time we as Americans band together, take back our country and our freedoms and start cleaning house. Like another poster stated in the Impeachment post, our country needs to stop policing the world and worry about our own. We’ve got enough of our own problems to worry about.
I do believe in the Technology. It would not be very hard to Ionize atoms in the sky using lazer technologies. I think sound , radiation, and electromagnetic fields can desturb our weather big time. Come on folks we can smash the atom. We can create robots that do chores and work in factories. We have great technology. We can do anything. The theory is supported by laws of physics. I also do know for a fact that sounds weapons are real. i have a freind who builds them and studies the effect of sound waves on different materials. He saw a 80 ft rock get turned into sand using low base freq’s and nuclear powered amplifiers to power them. the speakers are actualy a high pitched horns aimed to a center crossing position. Causing a change in frequenzy. Or base freq causing a very low bass unheard by most men on earth. The waves can cause living things to vomit. Can turn your bones into powder while your still alive. This technology can cause earth quakes and also aid in weather control. The weapons have been demonstrated as a weapons to upset peoples bodies and flush them out of a building before blowing it up. Crowd control during riots. But this level is only the tip of the iceburg. The technology can be used for several things. Like moving rocks in space or repeling them. The sound technology also could move a craft thru the vacuum of space.
I think there are so many technologies out there the goverment covers up.
I feel sorry for the guy for giving up his career to try and piece it all together. Someone else out there knows so much stuff about it or was involved in creating it. I just can’t believe someone wants to re discover how to control the weather with out the billions of dollars our government has poured into the research already. I do believe anything is possible.
There are many who need to wake up. Secret papers released after 50yrs tell how the US was in New Zealan, off the Whangaparoa Peninsula in 1945 & 46 practising to make Tsunami’s to use as War Bombs. This technology was not used only because the `A bomb’ was perfected.
Get your head out of the sand & start doing some research.
Weather Modification/Weather Control/Chemtrails was discussed at the recent UN conference in New York through a presentation by Rosalind Peterson.
Pendleton, Oregon just announced a tornado occurrence, which a meteorologist calls ‘rare’: “Pendleton has had funnel clouds in the past, but hardly gets tornados. I can’t think of an example right now, but it’s rare.”
I’ve been following Scott’s work for a couple of years now. While I was initially skeptical, living in Denver on Colorado’s Front Range has made me much less so. My former office had a 100+ mile view of the Rockies and the sky above them. Many a day, a small dot of condensation would develop into swirling cylinders of storm without moving and then would finally move east and turn into tornadoes in Kansas. When I was a kid in the 50s, I was a real weather nut and got pretty good at predicting weather in three-day cycles based on the progression of cirrus, cumulus, and then stratus clouds as fronts passed through and natural changes occurred. Believe me, there was nothing in my kiddie weather books that described how something could blow up in a day from virtually nothing.
And then there’s the current accuracy of weather prediction — the Front Range is notorious for weather extremes, which used to make prediction very difficult. Now, I’ll look at weather.com on a clear, 65 degree day in November, punch in my zip code and learn that tomorrow it will be mostly cloudy, with a high of 43 degrees, and a 75% probability of snow showers in the late afternoon. When those big wet flakes start falling at 3:30 p.m. the next afternoon, after a high somewhere between 42 and 44 degrees, I get goosebumps. That is way too accurate to be chance! Remember the old forecasts — a cold front moving in with temperature drops up to 20 degrees expected and a fair possibility of snow? They never mentioned exact temperatures and virtually the exact time the snow might start!
And then there’s the chemtrail thing. I used to think this was preposterous. Of course they were just condensation trails (contrails), not chemtrails! Any fool knows that… And then I started watching. Again, I observed many days when a perfectly clear sky was crisscrossed with vapor trails like an expanded tic tac toe board — not natural access paths to the airport. And the trails remained, and expanded, and before long they had blown into a large cloud formation all ready to move east and dump on Kansas again.
Please remain skeptical, but do look at all those square clouds and other unusual structures in the sky and compare what you see there with the uncannily accurate weather forecasts. Perhaps you’ll start to wonder too, just as Scott and I did.
No recent comments I see. I haven’t been able to locate Stevens site recently either. (Found this instead.) However, CNN did a report within the last year about Tesla domes and how they are used to protect Israeli military equipment. Real life has caught up with sci-fi.
Suggest people look into research being done by
Dr. Nick Begich in Alaska. http://www.earthpulse.com
Validation is available, though sources may not come right out and speak directly. Check out Taylor Caldwell’s novels, especially Captains and Kings. She was aware of some of the political agendas that Stevens refers to, and asked readers to study for themselves.

BTW, I searched for common signs of schizophrenia. They include sleep problems, social isolation, hyperactivity/inactivity, hostility, paranoia, unusual emotional reactions, deteriorating personal hygiene, unusual sensitivity, and family members with schizophrenia.
Other symptoms include delusions, hallucinations, and disrupted thoughts and behavior.
Scott appeared clear minded and articulate to me when I interviewed him.
Scott, if you happen to read this, please feel free to comment and let us know what’s happened with you in the past year.
