April 2007 was our nineteenth operational month, and we earned about 18,500 visitors! All you visitors and participants are awesome. We now have 504 articles, which have generated 5,550 comments.
Remember, the “REGISTER” and “LOGIN” links are in the top left column, under that “Published Writers” heading. The more voices writing articles and comments, the more diverse our discussions.
Here is a screenshot of our monthly visitor counts for the last 12 month rolling period, showing our growth chart. November appeared to dip because our Sitemeter service lost a week of data. I estimate November’s visitor count was actually a hair below October’s.
Here is a screenshot of our April daily visitor counts. The cyclical dips are the weekends, typical for most websites.
I ask everyone to please help out by with continued participation through chat, votes, comments, and especially writing your own articles. Sharing IdahoFallz.com with your friends, family and co-workers, and setting IFz as your browser homepage would also be awesome.
Thanks for all of your visits, stories, comments, and participation. You are what makes this site what it is. We look forward to an even bigger and better April.

I just discovered Google increased IdahoFallz.com’s PageRank up to 6/10 from the 5/10 we’ve languished at for so long.
That’s probably a big reason behind the increase in traffic. For instance, the Post Register, Museum of Idaho, Z103, and KIDK 3 are also PageRanked 6.
That increased traffic is awesome, but unfortunately can be worldwide instead of just here in our area.
Need to work on getting more southeast Idaho people visiting…
Hey Joe,
Can Idaho Fallz.com be considered a non-profit organization? If so, you could get free advertising on Cable One. They are required by the FCC to provide free advertising to non-profits in the area….all you have to do is contact Cable One Advertising and send them some real brief artwork with the site name. Even if it is not considered non-profit I bet they could be talked into putting the site on a rotating commerical all-day. It’s not like we are a direct competitor to them…if you have Cable One check out Channel 12 and 13 to see what is being advertised. Hope this helps.
I’m overdue in explaining something clearly.
The wordpress engine that runs IdahoFallz.com gets periodic updates, and in a recent update changes were made that unfortunately opened a major security hole.
I’ve spent several hours this month trying to plug that security hole, but unfortunately it appears to be something that can be fixed only by the people who design and tweak the core wordpress engine code, so I’m at their mercy until they fix it in the next release.
The site works perfectly, the only issue is I was forced to drop everyone from being able to author or even draft their own articles. When the code gets fixed, I’ll re-promote everyone up and notify.
There was an issue the first week where if you logged in you got an error. The reason was I tweaked the code to take you to the “Write” page immediately after login instead of the default “Dashboard”, but since I had to pull the authorship functions you were still directed the writing which wasn’t available hence the error appearance. If you login now you have access to the dashboard and your profile.
It’s really bugged me this happened, after all the time spent encouraging people to write their own articles.
In the meantime if you want an article published, please email it to me at idahofallz (at) gmail (dot) com, and I will publish it under my name, give full credit to you, and when this code gets fixed I’ll switch the author name over to you so you’re counted in the sidebar statistics, etc.
Sorry for this problem and hopefully it gets fixed soon. Hopefully it does not discourage participation.
