Did we REALLY land on the Moon?

Personally I think no. There are numerous claims that it was all a hoax. Some believe it was all staged because of the space race between the US and Russia.
I’ll be the first to admit I watched “Conspiracy Theory: Did we land on the moon” and they made some extremely valid points. But I’ve also read quite a few books and websites on the topic. It’s been said that the moon landing was not a scientific endeavour at all, but purely a political decision in order to win the “space race”. It was believed at that time in history, that whoever controlled space would have an enormous military advantage.
So why would NASA claim that there’s no point in returning to the moon? We’re much more scientifically advanced now than we were back in 1969, so why not?
What are your thoughts? Do you believe we actually went to the moon? I honestly don’t believe that we did. If you do, why do you think we haven’t gone back?

Christi….do a little reaserch before you start please. Why didn’t we go back? Ahhhh, Apollo 12, 14, 15, 16, 17 all done between July 1969 and Dec. 1972. All manned missions. What do you mean “why didn’t we go back?” Personally I cannot believe that there are actually people who disbelieve the fact that we did land on the Moon, but after reading some of the comments made on this web site in the last year, nothing surprises me! American’s have always seemed to have a fixation with “government conspiracies.” Why do I believe that we did in fact put a man on the Moon? Because my government told me so! Just kidding. I know that wasn’t funny. Because its a fact! There is NO WAY the US could pull of a hoax like that. To many people were involved. And the Chineese are planning a manned mission to the Moon as soon as 2010, so perhaps they will find evidence of our landing. Then you all can say they faked it too.

First off it’s CHRIS, not Christi.
Second, I’ve been to the Smithsonian Institute and have seen the space suits supposedly used. There’s no way those suits could have withstood that atmostphere! You can tell that just be looking at them!
Thirdly….”there’s no way we could pull a hoax like that” Are you kidding me? Now THAT’s funny!

And why did the Russians stop their race to the moon? Because we got their first? I seriously doubt that. It’s because they realized it was impossible!
I HAVE done my research on the subject. It’s been something I’ve been interested in for many years.

Tell me, why does Neil Armstrong refuse to talk about his moon mission? Why, when asked about that mission one time did he state, “Ask me no questions and I’ll tell you no lies”. Buzz Aldrin too refuses to place his hand on a bible and swear he walked on the moon.
You can believe what you want, but I believe it was all a hoax. Why haven’t we gone back in the last 20+ years?
Also….the landing was broadcast live. Why was there no delay in transmission when the astronauts were asked questions by Houston Command? There’s quite a bit of delay when a reporter in New York does a live interview and asks a reporter in Iraq a question. And this is 30+ years later. So why is there absolutely no delay in transmission when talking to a man on the moon? Please answer me that one!

OMG! If you have any real doubts about the moon missions, take a trip to Kennedy Space Center. It definitely has the WOW factor, it will give you goosebumps and put to rest any doubts you might have. I think the reason we haven’t been back is this: How many times do you need to investigate a rock? That is pretty much what the moon is and continuing to spend money to go back seems a big waste of taxpayers money. BTW do you believe that we have Space Shuttle Missions and a Space Station or is all of that a figmant of our imagination?

I have been to the Kennedy Space Ctr. Before I moved up here a year ago I used to live 2 hours south of there for the past 30 years. I could see the space shuttle take off from my house being 2 hours south. I’m not talking about the space shuttle OR the space station. Those BOTH operate much closer to earth than the moon. I’m talking landing ON THE MOON in 1969!

The Chinese you say are planning a trip to the moon in 2010. If we went to the moon in 1969, why has it taken them SO long to even attempt it? If the technology is there what’s the hold up?

Christy, Thanks for your comments in paragraph #1 above. In regards to your paragraph number 2, let me say this… You mention the fact that the Chinese are only now getting close to a manned Moon mission, so how could it have been possible for us to launch such a mission that many years ago? Good question, though the answer will not likely be received well by you. I will give it to you anyway. The question is a good one. You yourself see the reasons behind this as evidence that our Government (and therefore our country) is a joke. This PROVES that we could never have been on the Moon because we could certainly never have been that technologically advanced over the Chinese. I see this in a different way. To me, the fact that we were able to do this is a tremendous testimonial to the Scientists, Engineers and people of that time. There was a day when this was the greatest country on Earth. What our people have been able to do in previous generations has been nothing short of breathtaking. But we have managed to slip a little with each generation. People like Jane Fonda and her “Peace activism,” Dr. Spock with his child rearing BS, our political crap and infighting, our greed and need for more, more and yet more. We have fallen to the point now where more and more people LOOK for reasons to disbelieve their Government (on any topic) than they do to support it. We have no unity. We have no belief in ourselves. We are fat, dumb and yet still, unhappy. There is no pride in this Country anymore. Children today do not say the Pledge of Allegiance with their hands on their hearts and a tear in their eye because today those are just words. Words that we do not even allow them to say anymore because, aahh, God forbid – it contains the word GOD! . The Japanese and others are passing us by. They are being better educated. They are more frugal with their money, less greedy and have held tighter to their beliefs, traditions and heritage. They respect their Senior Citizen – we “tolerate” ours and feel like we are going the extra mile. We think we must save the world. We chase our tails with causes like “Global Warming” and starving cats and Dogs, while our own children have no medical care and so many live in poverty. We my friend have become a joke. We are so busy working two jobs to make money to have more, more, and more that we let an electronic box baby-sit our fat lazy children after school until we can get home. The average child sits down at that box and commits a dozen killings in unbelievable, realistic, graphic detail before he or she even has a chance to sit down to a nice bowl of Ramen Noodles and soda crackers at 7 pm when we get home. And then we blame the violence that results from this on Guns – the one freedom that when handled properly helps make (and keep) us great, by allowing we the people to protect ourselves from this Government of ours if it ever gets out of hand. Now days, people like you look hard for a reason to hate out Government. To mistrust our Government. Even over something as simple as this topic. The fact that we were on the Moon so many years ago is a testimony to what this country was.

I’m not saying it was a hoax but if it was it would have been a very easy hoax to pull off. Because as described in the conspiracy articles fewer than 10 people would have been in on it. The thousands of people at mission control and otherwise involved in the project would all actually be thinking the ship had gone to the moon. Only the astronauts and a few necessary people would know they really flew to a sound stage in Nevada and then later took off again to land in the ocean.

I’ve seen the live broadcast a number of times and there was never that long of a delay in radio transmission. Actually not even any longer than the delay you usually see when a reporter is interviewing somebody overseas.
But I guess somebody could argue the delay was edited out.

Of course they were edited out for rebroadcast during news reports & such. Time during a 30 minute news program is precious, & using clips in TV shows & movies that still had the delay would mar the flow of the program.

Now let me ask you about the equipment left on the Moon. We track the movement of the Moon by measuring reflected lasar light from a mirror that’s on the surface of the Moon. How can astronomers do this if we were never there to place this mirror?

Chris, unless I miss my guess you weren’t even born on July 20, 1969 and if you were you were way too young to know and feel what it was all about. Watching reruns of the event will never come close to living the whole thing “live”, as did my generation. It was truly a different world then as so aptly discribed by feelinlucky.
You have to understand that if Pres. Kennedy would have challenged the country to go to Mars by the end of the decade rather that the moon, we would have attempted it and maybe succeeded. It was the whole attitude of good vs. evil and being the best and pride in America. Maybe you remember a little of it when Ronald Reagan caused it to return for a short season with his challenges to the Soviet Union. We were proud to be Americans and we could do any d… thing we set our minds to.

I wholeheartedly dismiss the allegations that the moon landing was a hoax.

However, in one of those links I posted above, one of the issues skeptics had with the moon mirrors is that Russians placed a bunch of those mirrors on the moon with non-manned missions.

But there is much more evidence to support the moon landing. Please look at those links and you will see the conspiracy theories and the evidence to pop those theories.

To quote moonmovie.com
“The Space Shuttle, so far, has killed fourteen people, merely trying to attain an orbit about two hundred fifty miles above the Earth. How is it then, that a third of a century ago, with less computing power in the entire rocket than in a present day twenty dollar Wal-Mart watch, NASA claims to have gone 100,000% farther, six different times between 1969 and 1972, landing on another celestial body and then returning, without ever killing anyone? How could they have powered air conditioning in two hundred fifty degree heat for three days with batteries? Why is the “second round” of “returning” to the moon estimated to be no earlier than half a century after the first? (Would there be a fifty-year span between the first and second trips across the Atlantic in an airplane?)

Look at this link about mid way down the page. http://www.moonmovie.com/moonmovie/default.asp?ID=8

The thing is, the Russian were much further along with their space program than we were back inthe 60’s. They already had the first satellite in space, the first man, woman & monkey in space, yet all of a sudden we just up and land on the moon without any problems whatsoever, blowing them clean out of the water. interesting to say the least.

Personally, I dont think there are any of these “mirrors” on the moon. the moon naturally reflects both light and radio frequencies, which was proven back in the 1950’s. Also, why hasn’t the Hubble Telescope ever brought us pictures of these mirrors, or any other evidence left from these lunar landings? I would think it’d be quite easy to spot these things, since the Hubble can take pictures of planets thousands of miles further than the moon.

Please read the wikipedia page about the moon landing hoax. This section specifically addresses the arguments about America supposedly being so far behind the Ruskies: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moon_landing_hoax#Technological_capability_of_USA_compared_with_the_USSR

Basically many of their “firsts” were not that technologically advancing (such as the first woman in space), the state-controlled Russian media did not report the less glamorous aspects of their firsts, and many of those firsts were followed soon thereafter by America but much less publicized cuz 2nd place doesn’t get attention.

Most importantly, the Russians never developed a strong moon landing program. We did develop a strong moon landing program after appearing to be behind in the space race.

I can appreciate academic exercises and thinking outside the box, but this issue really seems answered to me.

My belief that the United States of America landed astronauts on the Moon has nothing to do with either the government or the military-industrial complex telling me they did. Nor does my belief rest on moon rocks, Apollo spacecraft, space suits, photographs, video and audio recordings or any other physical proofs anyone can offer. As Moon landing hoaxers, authors, painters, photographers, Hollywood film artists and any other bevy of creative and technical experts ably and comically portray, it’s easy to come up with this kind of evidence. And presenting that kind of evidence does not stop the nay-sayers. Never will. Someone asked earlier in the chatbox why John Glenn would not swear on a Bible that he landed on the Moon. You’ll have to ask him. My belief: He did not wish to dignify such a stupid request with a response. My parallel belief: He could swear on a stack of Bibles as tall as a Saturn V rocket, and the nay-sayers still wouldn’t believe him.
My belief that the United States of America landed astronauts on the Moon has everything to do with my unshakable belief that mankind, once dedicated, can accomplish great things. If ingenious people can fashion ships capable of circumnavigating the globe using the power of wind and oar, if ingenious people can fashion airplanes to leap over the dunes at Kitty Hawk and evolve to transport people from Europe to the Americas in four hours, if mankind has the intelligence to develop artificial hearts, kidneys, limbs and eye lenses, if mankind, despite the hate and terror we are capable of generating, can also cooperate in the face of danger, disaster and war, then mankind, despite its weaknesses, is also capable of landing a man on the Moon and returning him safely to Earth, as John Kennedy promised in 1961.
This argument isn’t meant to convince anyone. I’m not proselytizing, condemning to Hell those who don’t believe that man has reached the Moon. I’m sorry there are people who are so cynical, so soured by the bad things done in the name of country and industry mankind that they can’t imagine mankind capable of traveling a mere 240,000 miles from the Earth to the Moon and a mere 240,000 miles back.

Amen! I keep hearing “believe everything you see on TV” but there is much more evidence than that. To say the whole notion rests on a few tv images just reduces the entire debate to a shouting match. If you ignore the other evidence without showing why it may not be good, well I don’t know much more to say on that.

A MERE 240,000 miles?? Now THAT’s Funny! So tell me….why is, SINCE THEN….we’ve never travelled more than 400 miles from earth. There’s quite a difference between 240,000 miles and 400 miles. Guess you’ll come up with some feel good story for that one too huh? Gimme a break.

Everybody knows that we simply did not have the technology back in 1969 to be able to pilot any type of aircraft to the moon and back.

Of course we do now, so why wouldn’t it happen. There must be a reason.
Probably the same reason our country now out sources pretty much everything we manufacture and/or produce. There are not too many things “Made in America” these days, simply because america has gotten lazy and nobody wants to actually work anymore. There are problems with every major argument for a manned moon landing. I used to think there’s no chance we did not go. But now… I’m positive that the Apollo missions didn’t take man to the moon.

The University of Cincinnati paid for a filmmaker to prove that Apollo 11 went to the moon. The filmmaker’s name is Aron Ranen. I got his film as a free bonus, and it’s very good.

Aron is not convinced we went, and after watching his film – I am no longer sure of it either. His was in fact the final nail in the coffin for me, since I bought a package deal of movies at the Moon Landing Hoax site.

I got 7 films for 135 bucks, and one of them alone is 2+ hours, two disc set that cost up to $49 normally. It’s called What Happened on the Moon? But anyway, back to the subject…

Laser Reflectors – If Russia placed reflectors on the moon remotely, why couldn’t we have done it and then claimed that what NASA really has up there are ‘man-placed’ reflectors?

Moon Rocks – Wernher von Braun was in Antarctica two years before Apollo 11, while he should have been working with rockets – the Saturn V – he was down there doing ‘lunar surface’ research. Why? Was he working on a way to launch from a location that would bypass the van Allen Radiation belts? Was his team gathering moon rock samples? It makes no sense for him to be there.

NAZI NASA Connection – Project Paperclip was the name of the operation to bring NAZI scientists [both rocket and mind sciences] into this country by altering their paperwork. Von Braun was directly involved in slave labor of prisoners, leading to the deaths of over 25,000 workers. When Americans arrived, they found 6,000 bodies not yet buried.

And it goes on….

All I’m saying is that even when you visit the sites that are flooded with comments by guys like Plait and Windley, very smart dudes, you still come away with half-truths some of the time. I know that’s no reason to discount the landings, because no one is perfect. But at the same time, we must look at the Post WWII history of this nation’s federal government and realize that something sinister was imported here when we brought our enemies home.

For a better understanding of the marriage of secrets and government, watch the film “The Good Shepherd”. Oh yea, and don’t forget to visit the moonmovie.com site.

Anyway, just keep an objective view as you do research.

I’ve only heard this conspiracy once and it was from my German highschool teacher of all people, but is actually quite beliveable. He claims to have had numerous encounters with ETs as they say. And the reason he believes that we have landed on the moon at least once the first time in 69′. But he does believe the others have been staged. His reason for why the others have been staged is because “ETs” have warned our government along with others of the world to not come back to the moon for 50 years because we are destroying our planet with nuclear weapons and other means at an alarming rate. The main evidence of this conspiracy being true to me at least is recently learning about the new mission to the moon being planned in 09′. Is this a coicidence that exactly 50 years later from the first time we landed on the moon in 69′? (if this was the first and only time we’ve been there)

With all of our current technology, why haven’t we been back? Or why haven’t other countries for that matter? There’s just alot that doesn’t add up and I guess we’ll never know for sure.

My parents use Tang to clean their dishwasher every 6 months or so. They live out in the country and have really hard well water. And those of you that know about hard water know that it leaves mineral & calcium deposits, which makes cleaning the bath tub, sinks & toilets really difficult if you don’t constantly keep them clean. After a few months those mineral deposits build up in the dishwasher snd leave a rust looking stain and they’ve tried that CLR stuff and a few other harsh chemicals and nothing has worked as good as Tang. Give it a try, you’ll be surprised!

What they did was fill up the cups where you’d normally put the soap, and then they’d pour some more in the bottom and run it through a cycle. You don’t have to worry about putting in too much as it’s not going to get soapy and shoot bubbles out of the sides or anything like that. I think they used about a cup & a half, maybe two. But I’m telling you….it made that dishwasher shine like brand new! It really is amazing! Especially since it’s supposed to be a drink mix! :)

I saw an interesting program on HDT (High Def Theatre) today. I only caught the last 10 minutes or so, but they claim within the next ten years, we’ll actually have an “outpost” on the moon which they’ll use as a “launch pad” for the first manned misson to mars. They also said they would put a new high powered telescope up there to be able to look deeper into the galaxy and that there would be regular flights back and forth to the moon. I wish I could have caught more than the last few minutes of this program and find out more information and who was behind it. 10 years seems rather soon, especially since this is the first I’ve heard about such a mission. I’m sure it will be on again though & I’ll try to write an update as soon as I view it in its entirety.

This plan is based on Dubya’s commitment to return to the moon that he proposed a few years ago.

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/c/a/2008/02/10/MNQSUR5HK.DTL

“The Constellation program, outlined by Bush in 2004 and ratified in large part by Congress a year later, is the nation’s most ambitious effort to send astronauts beyond lower-Earth orbit since Apollo was ended 35 years ago. It calls for spending $230 billion over the next two decades, according to the Government Accountability Office, with about $8 billion in contracts already let and almost $3 billion spent.

Work to design, build and test the Orion crew capsule is under way, as is work on the Ares I rocket that would launch it into space. The first test flight of an Ares I prototype is scheduled for April 2009, and the first manned flight is set for spring of 2015, with a maiden voyage to the international space station a year later.”

The problem with the plan is his inability to finance it. The NASA engineers I know who are working on various aspects of this program are under a shoestring budget. With the length of time needed to return to the moon, a lot of project workers are concerned that funding will be cut even more dramatically under a new administration. This project is at the mercy of our new President coming in, whoever that may be.

The main reason i dont believe man landed on the moon is that if so then there would have been hundreds of trips back there over alllll these years. No one can tell me that a few trips to the moon would be enough for NASA or the world at large to think ok thats enough.
Our minds are created for information more of it.
Knowledge is power and power for nations is everything. Why do you think there was a space race in the first place.
If the Russians believed what they were told to be the first landing then more stupid them.
For whatever reasons that the US so desperately wanted to be first it hopefully deterred ideas of more war maybe just maybe this was Gods way of putting an end to the tit for tat war between these two nations and maybe just maybe it saved millions of lives even if IF it was a hoax. No one has really been hurt by it except the men who refuse to talk about it which is kinda strange in itself. But you be the judge i just feel for those involved. By the way did you know that Neil Armstrong was promoted after “landing” in 1969? However by “1971″ not very long after at all he left NASA mmm wouldn’t that be an interesting insight. Its ashame the guy is now a recluse!!!!

Your Thinking is right on. I have did a lot of research into the missions, and after careful study I have come to the conclusion its all a big deception. The images and videos are actually the smoking gun. However its not just one thing-but in the details of the whole program. It is a very good hoax and very hard to crack, mainly due to its wide support and the great lengths Nasa went to, to make it seem real. So when you start investigating keep that in mind. There are only a few good sites that support the hoax. One of the best is listed here. http://apolloanomalies.com/ The rest are for the most part rather silly and even a sixth grader could debunk them. Thats why debunking sites like “Moon Base Clavius” are having a field day. Here are some of the things to check out. The AEC,NTS and Nasa’s little corner in “JackAss Flats” Study all the working diagrams of the LM, Spacesuits, everything. It takes some hard research, but since you already know the answer, the truth wont hurt when you find it. P.S. almost all of the images, videos, etc are easily obtainable from the internet-and are public domain.
Have Fun, Apache 105

I got the chance to watch the Mythbusters episode over the weekend. They busted 5 of the most popular reasons given by hoaxers as to why we faked the moon missions very well. I love the way the ended the episode by actually contacting the mirror placed on the moon by our astronauts; that’s exactly my trump card regarding the issue, too! How can we bounce lasers off the surface of the moon if we were never there to place them in the first place? Classic!

So did any of the doubters here catch the episode?

When the astronuats placed that mirror, is was in hopes that a laser could someday be bounced off it, Laser development was in early infancy then.
The mirror successfully reflected high frequency radio signals as soon as the signals were transmitted. At the time, the moon was considered as one leg of the triangle needed for worldwide communications, but com satellites proved to be cheaper. If things had worked out differently, we would all be getting cable tv bounced off the moon rather than the many satellites in use now.

During the 60’s, I served on a Navy ship that did long-range communications. We had an enormous transmitter mounted aft that bounced transmissions, and received them, off the moon continually.

One of the most closely guarded books in the transmitter shack was the Old Farmer’s Almanac. The Almanac provides very accurate information in each year’s publication of where the moon is in the sky during that year, and the transmitter crew depended on them for aiming the transmitter.

It’s crazy, but there were a limited number of copies onboard! The Navy spent gazillions on the high-tech transmitter, but were cheap in providing a guidance manual that cost a buck and a half. The Almanacs was kept in a safe so crew members couldn’t accidentally dispose of them.

Funny story! Fascinating that they even thought that far ahead to place the mirror (and a testiment to our creativity that we ended up not needing it).

The US DID send people to the Moon and there were alot of great technological advancements that came from the Apollo and earlier programs; Velcro, Gortex, Teflon, advancements in computers, communications, and the list goes on.
There are also about 5 Nations that have plans to return humans to the moon for a whole host of reasons. Check out the following link: http://www.lunarproperties.com/page/28

Info on why these nations are planning future trips to the Moon is located towards the bottom of the page with links to other articles. There is also a section on the right side of the site that lists the countries that are returning (US, China, Russia, India and Japan) along with links to news articles about their preparations.
Why are you so skeptical Chris?

To Jim Daniels: Hi Jim,
Well if we sent men to the moon in the LM, how did they get the Station wagon jeep like vehicle (same one used in training in Arizona) that I found on the Apollo ** set-behind sun rays close to ** crater. Its there, and phoney science smarter than thou crap can’t disprove it.
Also here is something else. Everyone mentions the flag waving as just the astronaut moving the pole. I agree in those instances when they are planting the flag its just a reaction. However no one can explain why the flag moves when an astronaut passes after flag has long become stable. This can be seen in one of the Apollo 15 Videos. I could look up the number, but you can do the research just like I did. If you don’t want to be disapointed in your beliefs then don’t do any research. Thanks, Apache105
P.S. Yes the things that came out of the program were nice, but my goodness what a price.

It was not until I began to examine the evidence on behalf of one of the investors into Bart Sibrel’s films, that I became convinced of the fraud we call Apollo.

I have successful proven, along with the son of Gus Grissom (AF Captain Scott Grissom), that the Apollo 1 crew was murdered. Visit http://moonmovie.com/apollo1.htm for more information.

We have also proven, “we” being the moon landing hoax research community – including but not limited to Bill Kaysing, Jim Collier, Jarrah White, Jack White, Ralph Rene, and many others – that the photographic and film records are largely fake. Visit: http://moonhoax.us to view over 100 videos in a series called MoonFaker by Jarrah Whilte.

In addition, MoonFaker covers the question of Radiation.

And finally, I did not come into this journey with any agenda except to know the truth.

I will disagree with the premise of this article, that the space race was real. It was not. Neither was the Cold War, as we presume to know it. An elite is determined to rule the world – what’s left of it after they destroy it through companies like Monsanto and puppets like Obama, Biden, Cheney, and Bush.

Apollo was but one phase of this push to rule the world. Apollo, plain and simple, was a coverup for the weaponization of space.

Thanks for allowing this open forum. I ask you all to seek the truth in all things. If you refuse to believe the moon landing hoax, perhaps begin by watching a film named:

The Obama Deception

“For stubborn folks who still believe the Apollo astronauts never landed on the moon, NASA has new images — definitive proof — that clearly show the Apollo 11 lander that carried the first astronauts to the lunar surface 40 years ago.

The images were taken by NASA’s first lunar scout in more than a decade, the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter. They show the Eagle lunar lander at Tranquility Base, where Apollo 11 astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin landed on July 20, 1969. They were snapped between July 11 and 15 of this month and released by NASA on Friday.”

I am one person here who can say with confidence we landed on the moon. This is not one of those situations where ‘everyone has a valid opinion’. If you think there are really valid suspicions, such as the ‘flag waving’, you just haven’t done any research. My question to you is – why? Why close your eyes to the perfectly easy & understandable explanations offered by the experts? Why would you consider that Aldrin & Armstrong & all the other men who actually walked on the moon are liars? Why would they do that?

I can’t imagine earth is the only planet in this vast universe with life on it. That seems like an awful large waste of space. I think its obvious that life is out there and they are much more intelligent than ourselves. We currently use less than 10% of our brain capacity so imagine a world where its inhabitants have learned to utilize 100% of their brain potential. Most of us can’t comprehend such a thing which is why the majority of the population laughs off topics like UFOs, alien life or visitors from another planet. Think about it. Think about how slowly we evolve and advance as a race. Its because people in general are so afraid of change it stunts their growth so to speak. We haven’t had any real major advancements in technology in decades. But look at how we raise our children. We teach them is better to be rich in wealth instead of rich in knowledge. We’d rather them be professional ball players or lawyers instead of scientists. Our world is probably the red headed step child of the universe.

Though I too have more then just a little bit of doubt in “our” trip to the moon, a recent article I read at Lew Rockwell dot com made me question more then just “Did we go?” but more importantly, say we did, was it right for the govt. to take tax payers money and involuntarily take said monies from them to fund such a project? Or as he said :

“The Apollo program was funded by tax money extracted from Americans who would otherwise have spent their money on unmemorable goods and services. These goods and services would have been higher on their list of priorities than the Apollo project. That is why it took coercion to fund the program….The total cost of the Apollo program was about $25 billion, or about $170 billion in 2009 dollars. The program matched the definition of commercialism: something done spectacularly that should not have been done at all. I said so in 1969. I have not changed my mind.”

Ditto Mr North. I concur…

What else was so important about these missions? How has it made a difference in your life personally? It hasn’t. It was all smoke and mirrors in order to trick the public into believing our government is doing something important all the while wasting our tax dollars. There were no advancements in science. They didn’t discover a cure for cancer or find exciting new minerals we could use. It was a big waste of money.
