IdahoFallz.com publishes monthly updated visitor counts and highlights some of the best-written stories in the past month. This is done in the interest of conducting open and honest business, and to update our stakeholders, which include Idaho Falls residents, anyone concerned with positive improvements the Idaho Falls area.

IdahoFallz.com monthly visitors over last 12 monthsNovember 2006 was our fourteenth month in operation with about 7,000 visitors, bringing out statistics up to:

  • 420 articles
  • 34 local discussion topics
  • 129 registered users

Here is a screenshot of our monthly visitor counts for the last 12 month rolling period, showing our growth chart. We have grown significantly, but appear to be in a plateau period for now. I have heard many websites experience plateaus for a few months at a time before growing more, so I am still confident in our future.

Here is a screenshot of our daily visitor counts in November. The cyclical dips are the weekends.IdahoFallz.com daily visitors in November 2006

Notice the one week it seems we had zero visitors? Our Sitemeter service was recording normal visitor counts that week, but at the end of the week it failed retroactively for the previous days. I have emailed David Smith the Sitemeter owner a couple times and left a comment on his blog, asking if the data could be restored, but got no response. I estimated the number of visits during that week and manually adjusted the month-over-month chart.

I ask everyone to please help out by sharing IFz with your friends, family and co-workers, setting IFz as your browser homepage, and continued participation through chat, votes, comments, and especially writing your own articles.

Thanks for all of your visits, stories, comments, and participation. You are what makes this site what it is. We look forward to an even bigger and better December.

Joe. When the report says 7,000 visitors, is this unique users, or 7,000 hits? Numbers look great, but I’m just trying to better understand your post. Thanks!

Sure, and I didn’t explain that well.

It was about 7,000 hits. So a good portion of those are repeat visitors. However, the counter is really good at counting a visitor only once per day.

I visit several times per day, so that would artificially inflate the numbers if it did not disregard my extra daily visits.

A neat thing is to also look at how our visitors arrive. You can see this by clicking the green “Sitemeter” link at the bottom of every page.

On the sitemeter page, click the ‘referrals’ link on the left, and you’ll see the search engine term someone used to find us, or the website that hosted a link which someone clicked through to get to us.

The “unknown” entries mean someone typed the URL in directly.
