If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to the newsletter or RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

My name is Scott L. Cannon, and I am running for State House of Representatives in Legislative District 32.

I have been active on this site for many months and would like to thank Joe for having it. I will answer any question asked. I also have my own website www.votescottcannon.com There you can view some of my ideas and comments. We only have 8 days until the election on November 7th. It is your right and responsibility to vote, I hope everyone does.

Thank you,

Scott L. Cannon

Scott, have you and Janice McGeachin had any debates?

There was one debate held by the Idaho Falls Chamber of Commerce. The format was more of a forum, questions were asked to all candidates running in District 32.

Yesterday the Post Register published their Voters guide for this year. My opponent claimed that she will vote NO on the Marriage Amendment. Today, in a paid advertisement, on page A6 in that same paper, Janice McGeachin claims to be fighting for HJR 2, The Marriage Amendment. Yesterday she said no and today yes, which one are we to believe?

Voters what do you think?

This morning it was revealed that the paper itself made a mistake. Jancie supports the Amendment and always has it was a typo.

Dear Scott:

I want to wish you the best of luck on Tuesday. I’m sure you aren’t getting a lot of support in you “local neighborhood,” if you get my drift. Hang in there.

One thing I admire about you, compared to any other person running for office, or anyone part of either the Republican or Democratic Party grassroots effort who has written here lately, is IT IS TRUE you were a writing on this site many months ago. You’re not just taking this opportunity to spread your message a bit further in the last several weeks or give us poll number updates. You have belonged and will belong as a contributor here after Nov. 7, 2006.

Personally, I’m offended by the candidates, or their staff, who perhaps found this site only after Joe issued an invitation to discuss issues. I’m also tired of some of the self-named, younger Democrats, who in the past week have cluttered the chat box with political talk, as well as many posts. While I agree everyone has the right to his/her opinion, this site use to be mostly an apolitical, which is why it was a refreshing change to almost every other web site.

I know John McGimpsey has an impressive web site (and he too, started writing here a while ago, but not nearly as long as you). Brady has a web site as do others running for office. I believe the average reader of this site has an I.Q. high enough to allow him/her to look for those web sites to learn more. I will personally vouch that you were writing comments here in July, if not earlier, about different topics.

I never thought I would say this, but in some ways, Kimball Mason’s ongoing difficulties would seem like refreshing to the races.

Whatever the outcome on Tuesday’s election, please stay involved with this site. You’ve contributed a lot of valuable thoughts and dialogue (that aren’t always political).

I first found Mr. Cannon’s campaign as a result of this blog and I am glad he is participating here. OK, you wrote a good comment as well.
