What do you want to read about Idaho Falls?

Some of the best topics written here have been ones suggested by commenters and chatbox-ers.
Encouraging locals to write about local issues involves three things: providing anonymity (check), teaching the technology (1st of 3 installments published yesterday), and thinking up ideas to write about (this is the place).
I have had numerous local topics suggested to me, and I think most would make excellent articles and generate many great discussions. I always say, “that’s a great idea, why don’t you try writing it?”
Some topics either I thought of or were suggested include:
- Area improvement ideas.
- Local unsolved murders or kidnappings (present the evidence in an effort for community to discuss and generate clues).
- 4H activities are more than farm-related, they actually do a lot of neat fun things for kids.
- Lectures you sit in on around town.
- Business ideas you would like to see around Idaho Falls (but don’t have the time or talent to start yourself).
- Tips: parenting, homeowner, gardening, computer, etc.
- Local history stories
- Book reviews from our local library
- What ideas do you have?
Of course you can also write in the role of a citizen reporter. Some people thought my eyewitness description of the Kimball Mason sentencing was better than the local news reports. Citizen reporting may be amateur and not as polished as professional journalism, but there’s also a folksy conversational style that is endearing.
Please feel free to write up one of these topics, or to comment in reply to this with your ideas for topics that others may write about.

Comments
from comment #1, dnix has written a few articles about growth and commercial development in our area. I think his articles are distinct from the famous Paul Menser’s, and have gathered a good number of comments and positive discussions. I hope he continues publishing those.
I am looking to cut back on my article publications to about three per week in 2007, so I can focus on other goals and projects I have.
What type of articles have I written that you want to see more of?
What type of articles have you seen from other IFz writers that you want to see more of?
What type of articles do you not see published anywhere in any media that you want to see?
I agree with the first post, it would be nice to know more about what is going on around town in the way of entertainment and social opportunities. My husband and I searched high and low for something to do the night of the 31st. Checked all the web sites, news, magazines, papers, you name it. Maybe because it was Sunday, but there weren’t a lot of good social venues going on to ring in 2007. Maybe we missed something? I would love to read a regular posting about what is happening socially around IF. Something any of us could contribute to if we hear of something interesting.
I had thought of writing a weekly article that basically reviewed the IF events calender for the coming week.
It would be awesome if someone wanted to start writing and publishing that here once a week. It would take some time, but would be very rewarding for the writer and super-popular for our Idaho Falls community.
Of course reviews of local events are also awesome.

Joe- Not to take away from Mr. Menser at the PR, but, I would like to start a weekly or bi-weekly post about the going ons around town. From huge news like the Marriott, to smaller news like Merlins TV Repair moving to Ammon. I have a knack for knowing what is happening or what is going to happen, I feel I can give alot of insight to those who are interested. Let me know what you think.
