You can edit your comments now

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to the newsletter or RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

You kvetched and I heard. Comments are now editable by users for five minutes after you submit them.

After you submit your comment, you’ll notice a red bar and a countdown timer by your comment, indicating the number of seconds remaining in your ‘edit window’. This gives you time to quickly review your grammar, spelling, and content, and make any quick changes if necessary. The countdown timer is that spiffy new AJAX technology you hear about so much lately.

Honestly, you get ten minutes, but the timer only shows five. Why? The time continues counting down while you’re editing, so it would stink if you clicked when it said 10 seconds left and then refused your edit. Keep in mind while you’re editing your comments that the time is still expiring. If there’s substantial additions you want to make, feel free to just add another comment.

This latest feature is in addition to the other comment scripts we’ve added to facilitate asynchronous discussions: new comments you have not read yet, and the ability to subscribe to comments in particular discussion threads. And as always, you can register and write your own articles.

Please let me know if you have any troubles.

If you enjoyed this post, please consider to leave a comment or subscribe to the feed and get future articles delivered to your feed reader.

That is really a nice touch. Must say. Plus, it’s sort of like playing boggle with your own words. Get it fixed before the timer… awwwwww.
