Mobile Movies in Idaho Falls

Hey kids, here’s a great project for your last week of summer: outfit your rig to broadcast mobile movies.

The trend is called MobMovs (Mobile Movies, get it?) It’s essentially an automobile with a DVD player, projector, and short-range FM transmitter.

First, read this guy’s advice (he originated the idea) on tips and tricks and do’s and dont’s.

Scope out some local areas where you can project a movie onto a building, like after hours at the mall, behind a big-box retail store, or in ye olde Eagle Rock downtown (south of the library).

Announce to your circle of friends (or in the chatbox of your favorite city-based website) where and what time you will be sharing your movie.

Is it legal? That’s undecided, especially since it’s a small showing and you’re not charging admission. Is it fun and be an experience you’ll always remember? Guaranteed.

What a cool idea. I saw a sweet Car at Precision Audio with a nice TV in the back… I think the laws are pretty clear though I’m not quoting them as to what you can and can’t do with a rental or owned movie. Numbers of viewers may be the factor. Or if you want, you could always just meet up with your friends a Gem for a free viewing. I believe the current is “What Lies Beneath”.
