The Children’s Center sign gets turned back on

Awhile back the PR did a story about a local candidate that had his business sign turned of by the central powers in the Bonneville County Republican Central Committee. Those powers made several phone calls to the adjacent business owners who are also members of the Bonneville County Republican Central Committee and Mike Adams the Community relations Director had the power turned off.

If that was not bad enough The Children’s Center CEO Matt Smith told the property owners that the working arrangement of 18 months was no longer adequate for their needs. Either The Children’s Center has complete control or the property owner could look for another client that spent as much money as them. Needless to say Mr. Cannon’s 1st Amendment rights were of no concern of the key and important Republican leaders in Bonneville County.

Here I am sad to report we find power, arrogance, and business as usual under a one party system. The Children’s Center makes a great deal of money off Medicaid and Medicare. The fact that they keep donating to Republican candidates and organizations show what truly drives their “business decision”.

Sadly I believe that the fact that the sign got turned on and constitutionally protected rights got trampled on is a travesty. The arrogance of the leaders that keep getting elected because no one challenges them, the “Blind Followers” of the Republican party faithful, when will they see that those they elected are not doing what’s best for the people but what is best for them, and those that donated to them? Maybe I am the only one that sees it this way? What do you think am I crazy?

I agree completely. I had almost forgotten about that happening. It’s pretty sad that in 21st century America a person can’t support a political candidate without being punished for it.

And Mike Adams seems to be a pretty powerful man in local GOP circles, as well as at the Post Register. I have seen other columnists be dropped for relatively minor offenses. I heard a few years back that Mike Adams sent a death threat letter to a legislator, I believe it was Ann Rydalch. Then when it was discovered that he was the one who sent it he said it was just a joke. Who else do you know that could get away with that defense? And he didn’t even lose his column in the paper. Yup, came out smelling like a rose.

As long as the Republicans have such a majority around here there is no accountability. They can pretty much do whatever they want.

The Children’s Center makes MOST of their money from medicaid.

And they hire just about anyone. I don’t mean this as an insult to all of their employees, as they have some very good ones, but for some of their services they offer, they really do hire anyone they can find.

I make sure and recommend other agencies, who are more selective in their hiring process, when people ask me about certain services (PSR, IBI, etc…).

The fact that they are engaging in this type of behavior because they primarily support the party who would love to see medicaid dismantled, disgusts me.

The Children’s Center has decided that it is now okay to have a candidate’s sign in front of their Ammon building. I guess this must be a good business decision, after all The Children’s Center said turning off a candidate’s sign was a business decision. Today I went by and saw a sign for Butch Otter, and another for Lawrence Wasden. These are two Republican candidates. The sign they shut off was used to promote a Democrat. When they turned of the sign, The Children’s Center said it was not a good business decision to have political party signs at a business location. The current signs, endorsing Otter and Wasden, are located on property used by The Children’s Center. One asks the questions, why was it not a good business decision when the sign endorsed a Democrat and now it is seems to be a good business decision to use property affiliated with The Children’s Center to endorse Republicans.

I.F. businessman stages protest over sign by PHIL DAVIDSON

“Adams said… ‘We’re not in the position to tell people to go one way or the other politically. We just felt that it was very inappropriate.’.”

What a surprise (not). The Big Boys at the CC changing their minds. Hey Vote4Change, is their business in your district? Perhaps you should write them a formal letter telling you would like to help them be more successful, able to pay off debt etc. and you would like to know how you could help. Whatcha think?

I wonder if Mike Adams would come visit here and answer a few questions?

Ok4Now,
You are right, not a big surprise at all. Their business is in my District. But I don’t think they will be contributing to my campaign any time soon.

Shucks. Do you think they have any ideas of how you can help them in Boise, even if they can’t quite find the $ to donate?

Oh I am sure that they can, like more Mediciad funding please.

just saw that The children’s center got jeered in the PR. Serves them right.

could you post a link to where they “got jeered”? I would be interested in reading that.

I believe that it was in the Post Register on Friday in the opinion section.

I don’t know if that information can be linked here, given that the Post Register is a subscription. Just check Friday’s version either on line - and it is in the middle of what Marty T. was writing - not a totally separate article.

Vote4Change, I have a couple of questions. I was looking at a couple of various web sites a few days ago. Is the owner of the land where the Children’s Center selling it? Or, is it the land more north?

Also, in looking at their staff, and who they say they have, I just noticed that the person listed for the Lighthouse Montessori School is now also listed as the Partial Care Director. A busy-body, who usually has her facts straight, given that the Jr. person of the two-headed “think tank” in that building, lives close to him. This person reported to me that the person running the Montessori School, and now what appears the Partial Care program as well, is the Jr. person’s sister. I cannot say I know that for a fact, only that the person who told me is quite reliable on those type of matters.

What do you think? Is the property for sell? It is a myth that the Children’s Center actually owns their own land, as I understand it. However, I might be wrong.

Vote4Change, I would appreciate any thoughts/feedback you or any others could give me. To those who may not know otherwise, it certainly could appear nepotism may be a factor in being a program director for some employed at the Children’s Center. But, of course I don’t know for sure.
