Made in Idaho Falls

I was watching the John Ratzenberger-hosted show “Made in America”, on the Travel Channel the other day when I realized Idaho and/or Idaho Falls could have a show like that, but focused on products made in our area.

I don’t think writing about and photographing our local manufacturer’s would convey the same impact as video, so the idea is no good for the newspaper or a written blog entry. IdahoFallz.com could host video clips up to ten minutes long. However, I think the best place would be either as a local news series or an independent film company (though I don’t know who they would sell the videos to). Maybe since the number of manufacturers is limited, it could be commissioned by our local Chamber of Commerce?

Which local manufacturers could be profiled? Obviously Melaleuca, but also that knife-making company, and that company that custom retrofits RV campers would be good candidates.

I could see this as a good podcast/videocast. YouTube would be an excellent delivery mechanism. Anyone could do this.

There are a lot of great businesses on Idaho Falls with national attention. I know of people from a distance away that absolutely love Sled Vision Films, Starting Line Products, Boondockers, And I work at Andersen Mfg. known as a satellite antannae business there hitch division sold more than 50,000 ball mounts for towing domestic and international. Satellite division is known well also.
