A straightforward idea to settle disputes among consenting adults and reduce aggression.

Is there one already? We know the first two rules are not to talk about Idaho Falls Fight Club, but how about a hint?

Legality, even among consenting adults?

I am Jack’s message of disappointment to you.

It probably wouldn’t be legal. There are some ways to make things like that legal, otherwise there couldn’t be boxing matches, but if its done “underground” like in the movie it would be illegal.

But you just have to ask yourself “What would Tyler Durden do” and then do it. ;)

Holy cow!

KIDK 3 reports fight nights growing in popularity in …. REXBURG?!?!

http://www.kidk.com/news/7211011.html

See, it can be done.

I don’t see anything wrong with it. If there are two consenting adults who want to beat the crap out of each other, then let them! Who is it hurting?

Technically, it’s hurting two consenting adults … but I digress …

Yeah, but that’s their choice. Who is it hurting besides those two consenting adults? Noone.

Could be a healthy way to reduce aggression amongst local residents.

So what happens if these two folks beat the crap out of each other and have to be taken to the hospital….and they have no insurance? Who pays? You and I do! I don’t want to be paying for medical treatment for someone who is too clueless and has to resort to violence to solve their problems. Besides, what if enough people resorted to this? The costs would increase here…and this puts an unnecessary strain on hospital personnel as well. I can’t even believe we are talking about this!

Rule number one: If you have no insurance, don’t join fight club.

Rule number two: If you have no insurance, DON’T JOIN FIGHT CLUB!

Rule #3. Don’t join the fight club anyways.

Why are we discussing this? haha

Cuz they’re doing it up in Rexburg.

Why can’t we do it here in Idaho Falls?

I think the old Fred Meyer building would be a perfect location.

My basement would be creepier.

Mamma said knock you out…

What IF? What IF? What IF the sky was falling chicken little? give me a break with the What ifs already! Let these bozo’s beat the crap out of each other and take their agreesions out in a controlled enviroment. It happens everynight on the Spike channel on cable anyways. The one in Rexburg are just smaller versions that kids go to in order to let out their own aggression. Nothing wrong with that!
What if the VT shooter Slimduckdong would have went to a fight club and blew off some steam? I bet there’d be 33 more people alive right now!

I have dibs on Joe first. I have some business to settle regarding my last article ;)

Hey Scoobysnax….be at the Grand Teton Mall by Dillards East enterance at 10 p.m. tonight….I want to take it out on you for all your comments on this site. Hey, you do have insurance right? haha

Good lord i shudder at imagining the line that would form if i stepped into a ring.

Yes I do…PPO at that! Lets get ready to RUUUUUMMBLE!

the war protest idea should really be combined with the fight club idea.

“Fighting for Peace” would be a good tag line.

Fighting for peace….now that’s an oxymoron! :)

Where do we go to fight? I am in a bad mood and would love to smack someone around. But it would be my luck the dude was as gifted as myself and knew how to fight too. lol

I would probaly get my teeth knocked out. But I guarentee I wouldnt be angry at anything anymore.

There are some videos on youtube of the Rexburg fight club. Probably not the smartest thing to do though posting evidence online.

You can see some footage from the Rexburg Fight Night here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UizxXN6vPZ8

It actually seems very well-controlled and regulated. And there are some pretty good fights on there - check out the Haymaker about 1.5 minutes in! Those Hecksburg kids can scrap.

Another good fightclub spot would be ye old eagle rock, south of the library, north of the rossiter electric, and between the river and yellowstone.

Joe, you really seem to be interested in getting this thing up and running.
Question: are you interested in participating or just being a spectator? :)
That video from the Rexburg fights does look very controlled regulated as Jeremy noted and I’m all for it. It would be a good release for kids these days and a great incentive for them to take up boxing. From what I saw on the video, those kids in Rexburg are pretty much swinging wildly and nobody really shows any good boxing skills. I did like the way they kept it fair with all the referees though.
Let us know when opening night is Joe! :)

When one adult willingly participates in a fight with another willing adult, its called Mutual Combat. Neither is committing Simple Battery, which of course is a misdemeanor.

Most people who go out and get into fights in bars and get arrested are charged with Disturbing the Peace by Fighting, because its in public and most times it does not involve a clear cut case of Simple Battery.

If two consenting adults agreed to fight each other and it was in a place where no one’s peace was being disturbed, I can’t see that it would be illegal.

I’m, all for it if I can get in the ring with my sister in law first day of operation!!

Once I knock her cold, throw my mother-in-law in for kicks!

Seriously, I have to agree with post 26, but I would hope both participants are totally williing and no one has been forced or blackmailed into fighting. Also, someone has to stop the fight if injuries become serious or life-threatening.

(except for my examples above, let me finish the job - ha ha ha!)

right on on think fight nights are awesome. they got shut down but i think someone should bring it back up and do it underground.
