Post Register profiles those who overcome adversity

I wanted to give kudos to our local Post Register for the local student stories they profile all year round, and especially at graduation time. Yesterday I admired how Bonneville senior Raul Carreno is graduating high school but couldn’t speak any English just two years ago. Today I admired how Idaho Falls senior Tony Jenkins is graduating high school after taking control of his tumultuous emotional problems.

These stories are important because many Idaho Falls residents struggle with similar problems, and they need to see a light at the end of the tunnel. These stories are important because the people struggling with similar problems can be shown they are not alone and how others have overcome those similar problems.

I hope we see more stories like these year-round, acknowledging real problems but focusing on solutions and wise decisions.

Also a big kudo for Letters to the Editor word limit restrictions, along with publishing better guidelines and reasons why so many letters get rejected. It shows much better transparency on the part of the Post Register.
