McDonald’s corporation and the Idaho Falls city council today announced the area’s fifth chain restaurant will be constructed on Keefer Island in the Snake River. The Idaho Falls city council was happy to finally do something productive with the island, after years of weed-focus landscaping efforts failed to beautify it.
The new McDonald’s building will have a prime location across from the main hotel strip, and they plan to build a foot bridge to allow tourists to go between shore and the delicious food source. Keefer’s cabin has been eyed as a perfect spot to house the restaurant’s garbage cans.
“People want fast hot food more than natural beauty,” a councilman was quoted as saying.
Idaho Falls officials cited this deal as a typical example of the job creation efforts they are doing for Idaho Falls.
