Does Peter Park still get lots of perverts? It’s such a shame because it’s a great family location with the river view and the nice playset and walking distance from both the art museum and the library.

I think the last police sting was about a year ago. Any stings or arrests, or even observed suspicious behavior at Peter Park since?

Whats always interested me about the people who go to these parks looking for homosexual encounters is that the vast majority of those who get busted are married to women. And often in positions of prominence. Beyond the dentist who has been mentioned a general authority of a church was busted a while back. And it seems like you hardly ever see openly gay men there. That would seem to indicate to me that those who are open about their sexual preference and don’t try to conform to societal mores are less likely to engage in this type of behavior.

You got to back this up! I never heard of any general authority busted at a homo park. What are you talking about?

Referring to my general authority comment - how would you like me to prove it on a message board? Its not like there was a news story about it. He was just one of many who got busted and his position in the mormon church wasn’t part of any news story. I only know the connection because when it happened (something like seven or eight years ago) I was in a position to know more details than the general public would know. And if I name a specific name, something I’d have to admittedly go look up since I don’t recall his name just the general authority part since that was INTERESTING, without being able to link it to a news story then I’m just throwing out a name without being able to give direct linkage to it. Its actually pretty rare that the news run stories on busts in the parks. If they find out they often run them but the police don’t usually advertise arrests they make in a sting because that will keep the offenders away during the rest of the week(s) while the sting is running.

Is it really so hard to believe though? You hear about sex scandals involving religious figures in the news all the time. Even the mormon chuch is not immune and has had their fair share of temple recommended child molestors and people picked up for other crimes. Bradley Stowell for one - I can safely name him I think since he’s been widely publicized.

How about this for a compromise? Anyone busted at peter park has a record that can be found at bonneville county courthouse, right? Wait, unless they still have those issues with ’sealed’ cases not being found at all?

Well if the name is sent to me via email or even the ‘contact’ form on this site, I would be willing to go see if there is a record for that person.

If I do not comment that I got a name, disregard the statement. I don’t think I will delete it, because I think some valuable discussion has emerged.

That is a monumental difference. I would think the name of the person should be available to confirm. I think it was very careless to make such a statement against a high member of a church based on faulty memory.

I thought general authority was one step up from Bishop? If not perhaps I’m getting my terminology mixed up. It could have been a stake president, whatever that is, assuming he’s the next level up from bishop more or less - I’ve always got the impression that saying one level up was a bit of a misnomer since its not that structured. I’m not mormon (obviously). The way it was explained to me is that a bishop runs an individual ward and a general authority runs all the wards to a particular church. The latter is what the person was I was referring to so if thats something different than a general authority those of you having hysterics can breathe a little easier. And it sounds like at least one other person has heard of the same incident I have although perhaps they got the terminology correct.

So basically what Xman is saying, is that it’s not possible for a memeber of this religion, whether head honcho or lower down the ranks,for him to have committed this crime? That’s insane! Preachers, Pastors, Priests and members of every church have all fallen from grace in this aspect. For you to think it doesn’t happen in your religion is extremely naive’.
Why would the “Anonymous” make this up? Even the other “anonymous” say they remember seeing the story.

I never said it could not of happened. What I was saying it would be almost imposible to have happened without it being the biggest news in this area and it would make the news world wide. It would almost be the same as saying a Cardinal of the Catholic Church was caught in a homosexual sting in a public bathroom in a park in Idaho Falls and the newspapers and police kept it quiet. And it would be as outragous for anonyomus to say a Cardinal got caught and not back it up because they didn’t understand the heirarchy of the Catholic Church. Just get your facts straight before you make such incredible statements. And even if some else remembers something like that still dosent make it fact. I just wanted more evidence than “I remember a while back” Any one is cabable of committing these types of acts I agree.

I’m not sure where this park is, but couldn’t a group of people go clean up the graffiti? I’d volunteer for that project.
