We are all familiar with clicking on a link and it opens in a new browser window instead of in the same window. This is an intentional design by the webpage designer, and you may notice that IdahoFallz.com uses it on most of our links going to external sites.
The problem with this is that opening new windows strains your computer a little more than loading the new site in the same window. When computers are strained too much, they lock up and users become disgusted with technology. A smaller strain on your computer (and yourself) is to force the popups to open in new tabs within the same browser window. Internet Explorer will not do this right now, but the free Firefox browser will.
Set this behavior in Firefox by going to the Tool pull-down menu and select Options. Following the screenshot I’ve included, first hit the Tabs image (1) at the top, and select both the checkbox that says Force links that open new windows to open in: and the radio button that says ‘a new tab’ (2) . This will make your surfing experience easier to control and create less strain on your computer.
