Idaho Farm Fields Can Be Satellite Billboards

Word has been going around the net recently about businesses advertising on large rooftops (whether painted or large tarps) in an effort for those ads to be captured by satellite and being displayed to millions via Google Maps. Now it looks like someone decided to put a large swear word in a farm field, for whatever reason.

This made me realize our farm fields in Idaho are ripe for having ads cut into them so they appear in Google Maps. Farmers may be able to make additional income by cutting large corporate logos into their fields. The only problem is that Google Maps does not announce how often they update their imagery. They purchase satellite imagery from several sources, but the updates have been described in various areas as a few months old to several years old.

The opportunity does exist, however. A business model just has to be developed for it.

Looks like KFC has done this in the Nevada desert.

Although there is debate about if it was faked (like the Maxim anniversary shoot).

Any local farmers try this yet? Any local businesses with large rooftops try this yet?
