New Year’s Laws Idaho Should Examine

Here’s some new laws that Idaho should consider:

Minnesota will require businesses that hold people’s personal information to quickly notify them if there is a security breach. This seems like a great idea.

Michigan now requires background checks of anyone working at schools, and will ban convicted sex offenders from living or working within 1,000 feet of a school, or even loitering in the area of any school. This seems like a great idea.

Florida is limiting lobbyist influences by preventing them from paying for any lawmakers’ or government officials’ food, alcohol or gifts. This seems like a great idea.

Tennessee is requiring drunk drivers to help clean up roads while wearing vests proclaiming “I am a Drunk Driver” in 4-inch-high letters. This seems like a great idea.

West Virginia lowered food tax from 6% to 5%. This seems like a great idea, though we would need to lower ours from 5% to 4% or 3%.

Virginia has made illegal immigrants ineligible for state or local benefits like welfare or health care. This seems like a great idea, also.

What are the local thoughts on Idaho adopting these laws?

According to the sex offender maps linked from our lower right column of IF links, there is a sex offender living within 1 block of Cloverdale elementary school.

There are two right at the back of Clair E. Gales football field and another within a block of Dora Erickson also.
