IdahoFallz.com administrators have tried to employ all known methods of search engine optimization (SEO) to improve our search engine rankings. Most of these optimization tweaks have occurred behind the scenes, and we have gone about as far as we can in the behind the scenes work.
IdahoFallz.com actually ranks quite high in many searches, however ironically enough we are not even listed once in Google’s 69 pages of results for Idaho (we checked last weekend when beefing up the state links).
Why does this happen? Two reasons are the cause (and contain solutions):
1- The site is now getting update with new stories nearly every day. This improves results since search engines see new content more often. However, if we get more people who register and start writing posts (on whatever they want that is locally-related), the site will start getting updated several times daily, and the search engines reeeeeally get excited by that and will rank us higher.
2-Nobody links to IdahoFallz.com! Search engine optimization also relies on analyzing how many other sites link to yours. We have emailed several of the sites that we link to, telling them we have linked to them and asking them to post a reciprocal link. Not a single site has done so! We don’t want to cry boo hoo, but it is sad that not a single site in Idaho (and especially the Idaho Falls area) could find a minute to link back to us. If you know someone running a local site or who has any input at a local site, ask them if they would mind throwing up a link to IdahoFallz.com on their website. Even a few links from other sites would go a long ways towards helping our search engine rankings.
