From the very beginning of this project a naming rights package was part of the plan to raise the money needed to build a new ball park. This is the way it is done across the nation. The person and/or company which provides the bulk of the financing names the ball park or the arena..usually after their company. I might add that the McDermott people were totally behind this plan, because the object is to have a new ball park…not just a name. We all thought that this was the way to accomplish our goal of saving baseball for our city, not just for the professional team but more importantly for all of the youth programs that play at Highland Park.
