We have an economic development group called “Grow Idaho Falls.” They work to answer inquiries from “outside” business and to create programs that will attract business to take a look at our area. We are basically restricted to going after businesses that are a size we can physically handle; ie, infrastructure. One way to attract those businesses at this point in time is to use old-fashioned salesmanship. We must “out-hustle” the competition. Let me give you an example how it would take place if I am Mayor: A company suggests that they are interested into coming to our area. First, they get a call from “Grow I.F.” Then they would personally get a call from me. We then ask them what they need, (ie, water) and what information can we provide to help you make your decision. We make sure that our entire staff from planning and building can answer their questions, we suggest real estate people to help them find the type of property they want, and we make sure that every question is answered and a solution is found for every problem they might encounter. We simply become damn good salesmen and we are focused and totally customer oriented, as in a business concerned about its future. I have been in business for thirty-five years and I can tell you that this approach will work. It has worked in many other places and it will work here.

Thank you for that very candid answer. It was in plain english and easy to understand. I hope that we continue the grouwth to keep funds coming for things such as childrens programs and sports. Do they use any of the business taxes to pay for childrens programs. As they are our greatest resources.
